I have just bought myself a leon cupra R and i have started to notice a few things, the first been that there is a noise when turning right, this makes me think that its a passenger wheel bearing but took it to a mechanic and he said that it isant a wheel bearing.

There also seems to be a problem with the brakes, when coming to a stop 20 mph or less there is a whurring noise, the pads are getting a bit low so would that be making the noise or would it be the disc. Also when a cars at a stand still if you pump the brake they seem to click an aweful lot, is this normal.

Has anybody else had the same or similar problems, thanks in advance mully.

How did the mechanic come about the idea that it wasn't the wheel bearing?

I swore and so did two mechanics that I didn't have a wheel bearing going as there were zero of the traditional signs.
Changed the wheel bearing and calm was resummed.
they need very little play to be noisy, nothing was felt on wobbling the wheel etc

i had the noise from one of my rear brakes.
it was the caliper one of the floating pins was caked in brake dust and had seized.
took it apart and cleaned and greased it. its sorted now.
the clicking maybe just the pads moving in. my front brembos used to click when i changed direction (forward/backwards) i braked and it would click. seat said theres nothing they can do so i fitted aftermarket pads and no click now.

Let us know how you get on as I have something similar and usual signs do not necessarily suggest bearing but I may change mine also was i have new discs/pads going on soon

just by looking and by touch theres maybe a half a centimetre left on them, just noticed (this is gonna make me look like a right plank) the whurring noise maybe off the tyres the previouss owner has put Wan Li tyres on the front and they have only done 1000 miles, maybe its just tyre noise off crappy budget tyres??

Yeah thats what im thinkin because the rears have the original Pirelli P Zeros with a good tread so il put them on the front and put the WAN LI tyres on the back lol,

Yep, took it to an audi specialist today and he said that the pads would need changing shortly which is what i thought and he said that the whurring just sounds just like the tyres so im getting the pads done, front and rears changing over, also noticed today that one of the main exhaust brackets have snapped so ill be getting that sorted then ill be ready to go, ill keep you updated!

Just an update, finally got round to getting my car done today and basically i swapped my tyres over so the Wan Li tyres were put on the back and the pirelli's on the front, also put some new ferodo pads in and the noise has completly gone, so im happy apart from the fact that its booked in for a cambelt tommorow :headhurt:, more money out lol

Just be careful having those cheapies on the back the car doesn't swap ends when booting it on roundabouts etc.
