I just had this just try 1&2 first hope its 1 of them cos they real easy to get to just have engine running and unclip one see if it makes a diference if it does its not that one so plug back in an move to next till you find it.3&4 involve about 6 bolts but quite easy to do just a couple of brackets to remove really. mine was #3 took me about half hour an im a reall novice to engines

I dont even need to do that... I can pull away and feel it misfiring straight away and the engine is running roughly.

Plugged in VAGCOM and run measuring clocks 015 / 016 showed cylinder 3 missing... swapped it over with cylinder 2 ... and now cylinder 2 is missing.

I was getting worried it was something serious as this is the first time I have experience coil pack failure

Anyone know where I can buy one quickly (as in tomm morning) ... I will replace the lot but for tommorrow I just want to get the car running as I cant get to work without it as the motorbike is in bits !!! :censored:- sods law car plays up the weekend I stripped it [:@]

Thanks for help so far guys [B)]

Talking about this the other day and I wasn't the only person who had problems with non oem coilpacks. I bought some and failed out of the box. Vw always have them on stock (part number is on her somewhere) but just ask for a 1.8t coilpack. About 30 quid fella. Just make sure the part number ends in R.

Well GSF had three coil packs in stock... OE BREM @ £24.75 each... local VW didnt have any in stock ...

So bought two coil packs from VW and fitted both new ones on cylinders 1 and 2 (swapped coil packs round from last night to make fitting quicker) ... so I now have one spare plus laptop / lead in the boot of car in case it happens again :D

So car is fixed... but think will try and find a full new set of the 'R' version mentioned earlier.

Suprized that vw didn't have them in stock! Mate in my local dealership says they change them so regular that they have a good few there. Glad it's sorted though and with a set of the R's won't have to change for a long time.

Well looked at the faulty coilpack last night and that was a genuine VW / Audi coil pack as had the dealer marking on it... it also had 'BREMI' written on it so the ones I bought from GSF are the same as main dealer [B)]

Should last a while anyway [B)]
