Hey guys, hope someone on here can help me! Just after xmas my engine warning light came on, and after a Vagcom check I had the failed coolant temp sensor failure code. Anyway i was hoping if someone could tell me if this was something that could be done at home, or if it needs to be done by a professional. I've been quoted around £50 for parts and fitting, and i know that dosnt sound too bad but if i could get the parts and do it myself I would be happier.

Anyone got a walkthrough or could talk me through it?

BTW its a 2001 AUQ leon cupra! :help:

Mate, it is incredibly easy. It's pull out a clip, pull out the sensor, insert new sensor and reinsert clip. All done immediately after lifting the bonnet and removing the engine cover.

If engine is hot then make sure you release the pressure from the coolant system by taking the cap of the expansion tank before removing the faulty sensor. I'm sure that there are people who have been quite badly burnt doing this.

Really Easy mate,

Took me 5 mins with the engine cold. Make sure you get a new 'O' ring seal too.

Rung Vag com after the installation, and clear your old codes too.

Take of the two plastic engine coves and it is to the right of the head, as you look in the engine bay you can't miss it.
