take it back first thing in the morning.

Did it lock when you bought it - literally, did you have to unlock the car to drive off or was it already unlocked?

If not, the first thing id check is the fuse. 38 i seem to remember is the central locking

Yerh ok ill check that, but the only thing is, it wont lock manually either so the lock mechanism doesnt move:headhurt:

I have had exactly the same problem come up today. Im assuming the battery in my fob is dead which is why its not locking so will try and get a new one 2mo and try that first.

Had my report from Stoke Seat. They say that the fob wont link up to the car so i need a new fob (about £90) and a part in the locking barrell has snapped so need a new barrell (£80)

Just gonna get the barrell done though at that price.

Yeah mate, just had to leave it unlocked, what i did though was lock all the doors from the inside then climb over to the passenger side and open that door and get out and put my steering lock on. so then at least my drivers door was locked. It went in the garage on tuesday, they rang me after half an hour......"Hello, im afraid we have damaged your vehicle"

They jacked it up so high that it hit a pipe on the ceiling apparently and dented my roof!

So now im in a 58 plate ibiza till they fit it!

Oh **** just what you wanted to hear hey! As long as they sort it for you at no cost! What i have managed to do which is similar to you is leave the boot up and using a stick press the button to lock all the doors then shut the boot and everything is locked and then unlock the boot and same again to open. Is that couretsy car then?

when mine did this it was fuse 38 that had blown - check your interior lights - if they come on, then the fuse is fine. If they don't - the fuse is probably to blame.

If thats stoke seat as in stoke-on-trent no wonder they want to charge £90 robin gits.
Been stung there myself too wont go into to much detail lets just say i wont use them again.
If its a key you need try ebay, bought a flip key for £5 got a new blade £3 got it cut at timpsons £5 put the chip out of old key into new one and recoded with ignition 5mins job done. new flip key for less than £15.
As for been able to lock the drivers door if it locks using the switch inside then i would just sort your key as most people remove the barrel anyway as it is a common security issue with vag cars.
