Folding mirrors....... again!

Right following my recent post http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=209636&highlight=carbon+brushed about getting brushed or carbon mirror covers I have won a set of teardrop mirrors from ebay for £120 the pair. Didn't think that was too bad and they are electric too (not sure if heated or folding though).

My original square mirrors are heated but not folding. Firstly if the teardrop ones are not heated can the wiring be added to make them so?

Secondly if they are folding can I add the switch to make them fold on my car or would I need further wiring?

Before I get shot down I have searched 'folding mirrors' and 'mirror wiring' and have read every relevant post but there is still no decisive answer. People just seem to say you might need a loom but nothing certain.

Has anyone actually done this and can confirm what wiring if any I would need for folding mirrors.

Cheers.

Electric Folding teardrops are rare.
The mirrors are plug and play, but if you don't have folding now, not sure what you need.
I'd wait till they come and see if they fold electronically.

Surely you need the switch that makes them fold. Mine are folded by turning the mirror adjusting switch to the back.

I have pair of teardrops and my electric folding standards in the shed, the teardrops are manual folding so can compare the wiring for him when he gets his to be 100%

Thanks for the replies.

The teardrops are heated :)

Are all electrically adjustable ones heated? I know this wasn't always the case with the square mirrors.

As has been said I will have to wait and see what I get but I was just wanting to see what might be needed. I know I will need the switch but it's the other bits too. Ah well lets see what comes first.

I have electric folding teardrops now (on the car) also a set of manual folding teardrops.
They are both electric for the adjustment of the glass, also the heating element.

Also the ones that were standard on my car, the rectangle shape, are electric folding/heated/movement.

Right LEE my mirrors have arrived. I think they are manual folding but could you check your wiring for me to make sure.

For reference I have brown, white (for the heating) then purple, purple/grey and grey.

Cheers.

Yes, manual folding they are.

Cheers. I did think they probably would be even before they arrived.

Ah well they look a hell of a lot better than the square ones and they are my car colour too so no caps to paint.

p.s. what a sod the caps are to get off though :censored:
