Leon FR 170 TDI remap

If anyone has had their Leon TDI remapped please post here.

I have currently had my Leon remapped and i cannot feel much of a difference, it does feel different but it does not feel like a 195BHP car.

Anyone else been less than impressed with the remap on the engine or i have i drawn a short straw?

Apparently the remap was more difficult to do as i had the latest VAG update on my ECU which is restricting it.

Any suggestions or input?

What were you expecting exactly, most PD170's are well over 170bhp, some even around the 200 mark as standard, and best remapped are around 220 so not a huge increase in power just more usable torque. What you should maybe do is get the car on a RR with and without remap to see what it actually achieved.
Have only heard good things about remaps on here for the TDI, maybe because if you are the type that want a remap you are not really gonna have DPF issues...:whistle:

DPF issues do not really concern me as i do plenty of dual carriageway driving everyday at a constant 70.

I think the next thing for me to try is the DPF removal.

I think you missed the point there, I was saying if you get a remap you wont have issues...

If you remove the DPF then surely you would not pass an MOT and therefore not be road legal...?

I cant remember who it is, but one of the companies who have been testing the DPF removal have said they done a mock MOT and it passed

Not at all, having a remap is more likly to clog the DPF as you are injecting more fuel at higher revs. Which leaves more un-combusted fuel going back out the valves.

This is one of the mian causes as to why a diesel engine smokes when you boot it.

I didnt get the dpf light once pre remap and had the dpf after about 90 miles after remap, as long as i do not remove the cats the car will pass an MOT as the emmision will be within the expected tolerance levels.

There is no legal requirment to have the DPF there, is the emmisions readings that counts.

Hi ya,

Had miine done yesterday and I have not noticed a huge amount of power increase - The guy @ revo said it was pretty pokey anyway - The one thing I have noticed is that the power comes in earlier and lasts longer through the rev range.

I am getting the select switch tomorrow so will be able to switch between the two maps to tell the difference more easily.

remap power you'll not really notice it .... however, you'll find power picks up earlier (around 1,700rpm rather than 2,100) and it'll also last way longer all the way to 4,700 rather than dead by 4,200 .... and that makes a huge difference!

I agree :) Oh btw thanks for that xenon info the dealer found it really useful ;)

With a wider power range you dont really have those 'dead' spots in the rev range just floor it and the car responds as opposed to that classic lag associated with TDI engines...

I have had mine remapped for over a year now, no DPF lights x fingers only derated in hot weather after a long blast at > than 4.3k rpm. But it IS the torque that your should notice 1.7k thro to 4.5/5k

Mine is much better than standard after the remap. Quicker pick up all the way through the rev range and revs for longer. 212 bhp and 335lbft torque. Touch wood had no problems with the DPF yet!!!

Right then a little update for y'all (no I am not a yank !)

Had the revo update on my FR and the DPF light came on today - I noted the power was a little spluttery (sorry can't think of a better term) a while ago - Followed the directions in the hand book i.e. dual carriage way drive for 10+ mins and the light went out :)

Hey, yes you'll notice that when regeneration mode kicks in your car will idle at 1,000rpm and the power will hold back.

This happens so you don't further clog the DPF, you'll also notice that regeneration happens before the DPF light comes on.

Thanks for this information Noble - I am getting really p**sed of with this now as the regen mode comes on far too often IMO. I regularly do long motorway journeys and with 10 minutes of driving round town the regen mode comes on and the power loss becomes very noticable.

What should I do ? I currently have turned the map off as I don't want to keep cloggin the DPF.

Advice ? Should I get the map removed and wait til the DPF off becomes 'tested' and fully available ?

HELP !!!!
