I like the Seat unit though, big writing, looks good !. Don't want to change it. Plus, i'm sure any other unit would look a bit stupid seeing as though the standard Seat radio is such a strange shape, even with a fascia over another radio it would look odd.

USB Lead

I had an e-mail from SEAT today who told me I could order the factory fitted lead/parts and fit it myself or get the dealer to do it for me - extra cost obviously. I've asked for a quote!

Ipod / usb

Andy,

From what I understand, the Lead is a USB lead - you can only connect an IPOD if you then purchase the additional IPOD Cradle. I contacted SEAT UK who sent me an e-mail to confirm that the original SEAT USB lead could be ordered and installed. Like I said, I don't mind fitting it myself, but i've asked the local dealer for a quote.

Just to clarify - Anyone whos ordered the 'IPOD' option - it is the same as the USB option except you get a plug in cradle for the IPOD that you then plug into the USB lead!

I wait and see what my dealer says!

Hi bjh, so what you're saying is that the one cable will work with BOTH USB stick AND an ipod ?, the only difference being that the ipod will need a cradle, but the USB stick won't need any adaptation to the cable and will connect straight in ?

Andy

Cheers Canonman, i don't have an ipod so i only want to be able to plug a memory stick into the radio and be able to get my songs working from there.

Have you got any suggestions on how i go about getting one of these cables and the parts i'd need, if it's easy to do myself i will have a go, otherwise i'll just get the local Seat garage to do it. Do you get all the tools with the lead ? (thinking about the odd shape screwdriver i would need, etc)

Would it be worth ringing my locas SEAT garage to order the lead and possibly get them to fit it ?, i still can't help thinking my local SEAT dealer wouldn't have a clue what i was on about !

Best Regards,
Andy

Usb / ipod

Andy,

Just to clarify, if we had originally ordered the IPOD option – you would get a USB socket and a 3.5mm Jack under the heater controls at the back of the centre console.

If we had ordered the USB option you get EXACTLY the same set up - a USB socket and a 3.5mm Jack under the heater controls at the back of the centre console.

Searching around, people aren’t happy with SEAT because to ACTUALLY get the IPOD option you then have to buy a cradle that plugs into the USB / 3.5 mm socket.

What I want myself is like you – to plug a memory stick in. If and when I get an IPOD we can then purchase the cradle.

SEAT told me in an e-mail that we SHOULD be able to order the original lead / accessories to have the lead fitted.

I can’t tell you for sure if the music would play from a memory stick through the radio – but I’m hoping so – SEAT didn’t answer that one for me.

As soon as I get a price for the lead/parts I’ll let you know.

Hi all, i have just been onto my local SEAT dealer who said they could order me the kit. They said it would be £100 to buy, or £210 to completely buy & them fit it. It seems a bit extorsionate for them to charge an extra £110 to fit it mind !!!!.

At that price i'm not going to bother until i can find out if a memory stick will DEFINITELY work in it !. I don't have an ipod so i don't want them to do the work only to find that a USB memory stick doesn't work !

I rang AudioSounds in Newcastle they said they could do it for £220 all incl !, i cannot believe it really costs that much !, i could get a full service and probably a brand new USB radio for that price !!!

Cheers,
Andy

I know its an old one, but I have the same question and wondered if anyone had done it?
Is it it possible to connect the original USB port on a car which didnt came with it from factory ?
When I press the MEDIA button on the original cd\radio it only shows AUX option.
Are all OEM ibiza cd/radio are the same and has the fitting option for the USB port?
If this kit is available, can someone please direct me to a place where I can buy it from?
Thanks all:)

If its the same as the 2011 factory fit option then memory sticks work fine with MP3, AAC and WMA unprotected files.

Hi there, DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT buy the Dension Gateway 300 !!!!! - it ruins your radio !. I bought it 3 months ago, fitted it, it wouldn't work.... rang them, they sent me an update file via email, put it on a memory stick and connected it to the Dension 300 via the radio as per the instructions.... still didnt work, and infact it took the AUX function away from my radio. They told me the file does something to the chip inside the radio and I am now left with a radio which will only play CD's, the AUX function has disappeared and DENSION JUST DON'T WANT TO KNOW!. Very very bad experience with them, very bad customer service.

If u want USB functionality then, 1) either buy a new head unit (such as the JVC AVX series, like i had to do), 2) get Seat to fit a USB pack (our garage in Belmont told me it could NOT be done post-sales!!??!!??), or 3) buy some other USB unit apart from Dension.

Hope that helps!,
Andy
