hi all, have a 52 plate cupra r. Just started the engine from cold, moved about 5 meters and the oil light was flashing and it made a bleeping noise. I switched the engine off and restarted and it went off, yet i don't dare move the car. Its done 46k, and i've put oil in it yesterday. Help please as i don't dare drive it

is it the oil temperature light?the red dot? if so that is normal (the engine is really really cold),if not,it must be a sensor....im sure a vag com cable could get to the bottom of it..

Are you sure it was the oil light not the water temp light next to the fuel?if it was that it's just a sensor and it's fine to drive

The bleeping noise is just the audible warning for a warning light so don't worry about the noise - you'll hear it even for when your washer bottle is running low.

As for the oil - I'm no expert so won't speculate as those in the know will post soon for you.
However (& I don't mean to insult you with this) but it could be possible that you over-filled it. Which may explain the light going out after re-starting as oil has had a chance to move around.

Hope this helps for now :)

yeah, was the one next to the fuel gauge. It was when i pulled away from cold, it had been sat for a day. I switched engine off and sat there for 10mins till the temp was at 90. It was fine then. If its a sensor do i have to worry? Its fine now

It's a warning the prongs need cleaning, as the sender isn't getting the right signal.

Unplug the sensor in the header tank and bridge it out with a split pin (the plug) - then if it doesnt bring on the light you can either - try to clean the prongs or replace the header tanks (the sensor is intergrated in to it).
