I just bought a 2006 Cupra 1.8T. When I lock the car via remote, I dont get any flashes from sidelights and when I tried to enable horn beeping for locking, it doesnt work. Unlockign is OK. Manual says that if the car thinks a door, boot or hood is open, it will lock the car up but dont give any signals.

I checked that atleast the domelight inside the car is responding to both doors being open, so the problem is most likely not in them. Are there any known issues with boot or hood sensors? I havent had time to investigate it further.

The only lights that can flash with alarm arm or disarm are the hazard lights, this is a vag-com thing. The same with the horn beep but it isn't actually the horn and to be honest it sounds a bit pants.

If it's not working maybe your vag-com is not right.

With side lights I meant hazard lights. Sorry for the english. They should flash but they dont when I arm the alarm.

Trust me, its not vag-com issue. I changed the steering weight, unlocking sounds, selective unlocking etc without any problems.

I think I will test wether its boot or hood by opening them when alarm is armed. This way I should pick up the problem area.

had the same issue and its usually the microswitch in the bonnet catch, blast it with some brake and clutch cleaner to remove any scum, clean best you can and give it a light coat of grease, then keep working the bonnet catch with a screwdriver, (press down then pull lever a few times) ill look exactley where the switch is on mine later for you.

Thanks! Just the kind of an answer I was looking for :) Picture would be perfect but maybe too much to ask?? :)

ill see if i can get a good one, just depends on lighting when i get back as someone has borrowed my work lights.

I worked on the bonnet catch last night. Didnt help :( Problem is clearly there, I tested the boot door and the switch there is functioning correctly.

I even disconnected the bonnect switch completely and short circuited the connection with bare wire and tested with the connection open. No difference wether connection was open or closed. Maybe I dont understand how it should work or the wire is disconnected somewhere further down the line. F**k.
