hi there mite just be me not used to havin a dirty diesel lol but on start up on cold puff a nice bit of blue out this normal???
Blue smoke means oil.
So this means that somewere, oil is seeping through into the cylinders and sitting.
It could be as simple as worn rings which as causing this to happen.
If under warrenty get it checked out, if not take it to a garage and get it checked.

Yep, timing out could cause the diesel burn to be a bit dirty, that could make a bit of blue on startup.
I remember on my very old 1983 (A REG) astra diesel you had glow plugs and also a timing advance for cold starts. If you pulled the timing advance out when the engine was warm it would make blue smoke and also make real bad tractor noises.
The timing is adjusted on cold starts when the secondary air pump is running. Would have also been fiddled with when you got it remapped I guess?
