I have seen a car advertised as a 1999 (T) Seat Cupra 2.0 8v
But when I HPI the car it comes up as a 16V
Is there anyway of telling from looking at the pictures if its a 8v or 16v
Sadly I dont have any pictures of the engine.


It does say cupra GTi on the back of it and is in yellow.

I havent got any picture of under the bonnet....

Only the back of the car

And the side, but its got different wheels on it so cant tell by them either

another couple of posts and i will be able to post a picture of the back

not that the side will help

The car is yellow and the owner says its done 63,000 miles

Do the speeds have the extra diget to count 100,000

Is the 8v that much slower than an 16v
I was looking at buying this as a track car for my wife to use. She has a R56 Cooper S, but its too much money to take on the track.

not really until you get to motorway speeds in all honesty

as a track car i would go for an 8v personally

Really .... Can I ask why.

I know very little / next to nothing about the Seat brand. But think it would make a nice track car.

Also does the speedo go over to 100,000 ???

As im worried about the mileage on the car being 60,000 odd

8v easy maintain cheap to repair and readily available and you mentioned it's for the wife

i have known 2 types of women racers, those WITH mechanical sympathy and would never get the best out of a 16v and those WITHOUT who would probably break it :)

probably get flamed for that (especially off your missus) but overall unless you want a championship winning competition car that lives life on the edge with some serious engine work then an 8v is more of a useable proposition overall

ye personally i would - 16v always has me thinking whats gonna break next ? but i agree the grin factor does help

but i suppose it depends on the track i guess but how many tracks have a huge long straight

you'd uprate brakes and induction anyway if it was solely a track car
