Noticed on my drive home tonight that it wasn't getting warm.

Turning the fan up to max does nothing. Hoped it was a blown fuse, but no such luck.

Anything else I should check before I book it into the dealers?

probably the heater resistor, dead easy fix. i would suggest you ask the dealer to pre-order a resistor and a motor - SEAT have a 'first time fix' policy and any unused parts can be returned by the dealer at no expense. its to avoid the whole 'book, visit, diagnose, order parts, leave not fixed, rebook'

How do I go about doing this politely without suggesting they don't know what they're doing?

 yeah no-one likes a smartarse
perhaps 'a friend of mine had his done and the dealer did x y z'
or 'had a courtesy call from SEAT and they suggested . . . . . '
or 'read in Auto Express about SEAT first time fix campaign . . . . '
just a thought ;)

Most "switched on" dealers use this web site for ADVANCED info due to the apparent poor in house Seat UK feed back" Mine was spotted and repaired FOC - burnt out resistor. ..........

i'll second that - most of us only see a small representation of the product. SCN is countrywide and I have learned more than I have helped

Well it's in today for repair - hopefully it will be a simple fix.

Had a horrible thought on my way back to work in a courtesy car. I noticed on the job sheet that they had something stamped about "Recall Checks" and I remember reading a thread about dealers reflashing ECUs.

I've rung to check if they would do that to mine and they've said no - I don't want my CustomCode wiping out!
