Leon TDI Issues - Vagcom help needed...

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place... I'm terrible with forums and wouldn't post a new topic unless I really needed help!

Could anyone help diagnose this for me:

I'm not entirely sure what this means, or what I need to check, obviously the easy answer would be to take it to a garage, but, like everyone else, money is really tight!

Anyways, the car keeps going into 'limp mode' at about 3000 RPM (not all the time, and I believe it is more likely to happen with a cold engine...

The car also feels less gutsy than it was before (although it may be because I'm used to it now :D)

The car has done about 61000 miles, just coming up for service and is a 2002 110 TDI (none PD).

Unfortunately this is my first diesel (and first car I've been able to plug a computer into), so any help would be much appreciated!

Also, if it's not too much to ask... Any ideas on this one:

You have a TDI 110, it has a VNT turbo with moveable inlet vanes, like the one pictured here.

It does sound like you have sticking vanes. Post in the VAGcom section for more advice on interpreting the readings. If I read it right, it's reporting an intermittent fault on the MAP sensor, which might also give the symptoms you're describing. The MAP sensor is easier to replace than the turbo is to clean, but I don't know what they cost.

The Central convience module is quite simple one. Does your rear wash wipe squirt seem a dribble. If so you will be pumping water into your tailgate and will have got water into your boot switch, I had this last week the dealer replaced the boot latch I believe and reattached the pipe so it doesn't leak any more, more water on the screen is good and no fault on the ecu even better. Should be a simple fix as the dealer did it in a hour and that included it being washed.

or possibly a wiring fault take a look 'round first, I think the're about £30

Thanks guys, this is all really helpful. Unfortunately I don't feel confident taking a turbo to bits to clean it... How would I go about doing this in VAGCOM?

To be honest, I'm not sure how I could have done it, I mean I don't drive the car slowly... Could it be related to incorrect oil? (I might have put 10/30 or something in the car by mistake)...

Thanks for all the advise here. Should I replace the map sensor before I try any cleaning of things or clean first?

you could do, it could be that which is causing the ECU to think it's overboosting when it's actually not and causing limp mode. What i'd do if i were you is clear all the fault codes then drive it, when it goes into limp mode, read the code and clear it. If the same faults (map sensor and overboost) happen everytime, change the map sensor first. If it still overboosts then have a look at these threads...

Editing your spelling
agreed with others here, change your MAP sensor, easy job, its on the boost pipe from the intercooler, refit with some die-elec grease on the connector, then do a good italian tune up (hard run to exercise the turbo). After that if it still over boosts then get the innotec set and clean the turbo..

Ah, thank you very much, the diagram is helpful too, it confirms that I was looking in the right place!

Next dumb question, where do you think I could get the best price for this? I doubt the stealers would be a good place, plus there is no longer a Seat dealership in Lincoln (for some reason it is now Harley Davidson)!

I've sent off a few E-mails to places and got quotes ranging from £30-70. Unfortunately though, they do not say if these are genuine or not, and as I've read on here, non-genuine sensors are bad news.

If anyone can advise on any good websites, it'd be much appreciated.

I'd defo try get a BOSCH one, have you tried Ted Johnson dealer on here for a price?

Also, isn't Andrew Page a BOSCH parts dealer, do you have a local one you could nip into a get a price?

I dont know any other websites that sell them.

OK, so I got a new sensor, finally got around to fitting it, while doing my service...

Now I can't actually get the screws out! >.<

But, on the flipside, since the service, it hasn't gone into limp mode since... Although it may just be a coincidence.

I'll have another go at it when I get time, as I might as well replace the sensor while I have a new one.

Also, how do I clear the errors on VAG-COM? Or do they clear themselves?
