Not sure on the part numbers, but look on the seat site.
All you need is a facia and a few screws etc
Reversing camera - no (at the moment)
TV Receiver - yes

Other options, MDI in for full iPod (see NickPs posts)
You can get an adapter so you can watch TV on the move (not sure why anybody would want to but you can!)
Premium BT kit so you can dial from the unit (again not sure why you would want that?)

If you want it from a dealer and you want all those toys dont expect much change from £2K :-o

i think i am just going for the basic unit i already have the bluetooth kit.

The camera would be good for reversing my boat, but that will have to wait.

I was just wondering what options are out there really.

I have been looking at a pioneer unit, but when you had all the bits you need its cost as much as the mfd3, and it doesnt come with an hard drive, or interface into the car the same.

i managed to get a price for the seat unit from a dealer and it was £1600!!!!

If you manage to find a seat rns unit let me know, I have been looking for ages and am about to give up. You could try to pm tommy, he had one before christmas and it was 1000 euros but i think he sold it.

The seat version seems to be as rare as rocking horse ****

i am not spending 1k on a unit with no warrenty, no dis respect to anyone who has bought one, i just tend to be unlucky with these things.

I had my reservations as i'm the same, if something is going to go wrong it would be me, but i'm glad I decided to 'gamble'
That said with the euro so strong and lack of units im not sure I would gamble at todays prices, mine was only £800 last april...

i take it you dont have either the aux or usb in on your car then?

what does this unit dsplay on the mfd [B)], mmmm, nothing?

what size is the hard drive? oh, it doesnt have one???

can you select phone contacts without taking your hands off the steering wheel? no???

over 30s to start FROM WARM, over 40 from cold!!

it doesnt come with mapping software......etc, etc.

it is what it is, a cheap chinese version. :moon:

You took the words right out of my mouth

Mind you in theses dark economic times its an option I guess and is certainly better than the factory stereo...

Just been quoted £250 for one and for £15 you can have areversing camera.

The guy is just checking with the new model, he believes it works with steering controls

I will let you know tomorrow.

Its windows mobile so you can run any nav software that works on pda's or phones, so you can run Tomtom and have speed cameras

ive just dug out the original dealer news release and that does state:

....‘It’s easily the most flexible, user-friendly and clear system we have ever offered and the price makes it one of the most competitive factory-fit devices around.’

dont forget the maps have to be stored on the sd card so it renders the slot useless when using nav.
the units are in fact double din shaped pda's.
and, you usually get what you pay for.

i appreciate that they are not as good as the oem mfd3, however for £250 you cant expect it to be.

At the moment you cant get a seat version, and a vw is coming between £800 to a £1000

so it could be worth ago, i only what an upgrade to the crappy standard radio that makes use of my stering wheel controls, it would be nice if the phone displayed caller information on the dash, but i could probably live without it

potter, I looked at the site and yes for £250 it does look a very good deal. I don't want to go on about the differences because there are so many, but if you can get hold of one for that price then go for it!

Thanks for the response, as i said i realise its no mfd3, but if it does what it says then for that price its very good value.

If i dont get on with it i can always sell it on flebay for probably more dosh than i paid for it. And hopefully if that happens the pound euro rate will have recovered and there could be more around.

check this COMPLETED EBAY AUCTION. the seller is accepting £750 for a unit. ok its a vw one, but the only difference is the start up splash which only comes on for around 2 seconds, and only then when starting from cold. if you have the factory bluetooth i would seriously consider this if you cant get a seat one.
