Has anyone else found the rear screen washer is pathetic ? Picked my 57 Cupra up yesterday and the water litterally shoots 2" up the rear windscreen if that. Cant see anything obvious blocking it.

Hi,

Nope I cant say I ve noticed, I thought the front and rear washer jets where good.

Have you tried sticking a pin (or similar) in the jet hole, the smallest piece of dirt may be blocking part of the jet?

Dont want to state the obvious but have you also made sure the washer bottle is full?

that is a good question...where is the bottle for the back window washer?...is it linked with the front bottle?
in my other cars, it was in the back.

thanx,

one last stupid question, where does the soap go?..do you mix it with the water?

on our ex Fiesta ST, we drained all the water from washing the windows.
poured water in and sprayed...soap appeared...weird.

thanx,

Euhm all the cars I've had so far only have one bottle. But just in case, YES the one under the bonnet is the only one.

Mine sprays almost all the way to the top. Only problem is that is sprays in the middle, which means the wiper goes through the gunk first and then reaches the fluid.
And since the Leon gets it's rearwindow dirty very fast [:@]

Its always best to use a screenwash. Just put it in your washer bottle. Or if you use the concentrate follow the instrctions on the back of the screenwash bottle. You can get it from most garages, supermarkets, hardwear stores. Always some in the car and vehicle section.

@ Snowsurfer - utilizing a pin usually solves the problem...so i'd surely give that a try.
if thats doesn't work...then only do i think you might have an issue.

@ pacmOn - will bear that in mind. thanx!

Hi there Snowsurfer,

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago when the rear washer lost all pressure and was hardly spraying any screenwash at all. It turned out with a bit of investigation that a connector in the boot on the passenger side of the car had popped apart from the hose as I had tried to spray the rear windscreen when it was frozen, so the water was just pumping out and leaking into the boot. Try feeling for dampness in the boot on the left-hand side which could indicate the same problem. If it is, it wasn't too difficult to fix in the end if it's the same thing. Hope you get whatever it is sorted anyway!

I have also had a recent problem with the rear washer, it completely stopped working. I could however still hear the pump/motor thing and there was plenty of screen wash in...... on investigation it turned out the hose had come disconnected in one of the rear wheel arches! Maybe worth a quick check to see if there is a bit of a leak.

As above but the pipe to my washer was drivers side close to the rear seat belt. Check the seatbelt too that was damp when you pulled it out, had to be double jointed with 2" thin arms to get at it it was a right pain! :censored: It might depend on the year or the Seat usual odd ways of building cars and spec lottery as to where the pipe is!!!!

My rear one is fine but I find the mist from the front ones isn't always adequate in winter conditions like when the road is very salty. I find it sometimes just mixes the water with the salt, smears it across the screen and then dries making it even worse, lol!

Found why its not working properly when holding it on for a longer period im getting water spill out from under the car. So something has come apart/split. Cant seem to find where though so guess its a trip to the garage to get it on the ramps.

Just a note, couple of mornings this week my rear washer wouldnt work first thing, obviously frozen up somewhere, so be careful not to use it too much when it is really cold or you might burst a connection somewhere!
