Hi all, i had to change my car to the new shape Ibiza due to my beloved Cupra being written off (no fault of mine incidentally lol !!). So, my question is, what settings should i change my scangauge II to ?

The car is new shape Ibiza, 1.6 Sport.

I have set the tank size to 10 gallons (as it's a 45 litre tank, reserve 7 litres. Assuming it means 45 litres overall OF WHICH 7 litres is a reserve). I also set the engine size to 1.6 litres.

What do you recommend the "Fuel Cut Off" to be set at ??, any other settings i should change on the SG II to increase it's accuracy ?

Ah sorry to hear about the cupra being written off. Thats a shame.

I guess you found the ODB port then.

Other settings look ok.
Get the sat nav out and calibrate the speed to match. Remember the Leon was -2
The tank just try to match the gallons used at fill up. Divide the litres by 4.56

Fuel Cut off. Check the TPS setting while driving with the foot off the throttle and add two to it and set the fuel cut off at that.

Whats the new Ibiza like?

So is it going to be better to leave the refuelling until the car reports 5 miles left or so ?, so that i know how much fuel it takes in before the pump cuts off ? - i take it i shouldn't fill up any further than the point at which the pump cuts off ?

The sat nav seems to calibrate the Ibiza to around +2, however on a run today the SGII reported 17.3 miles, and the car reported 17.2 miles, so i wonder if doing a -2, then a +2 and finding out car reading against SGII reading, then averaging the 2 readings to find the speed calibration figure ??

Yes, what happened was a lorry infront of me decided to shed what looks like a wrench and i drove over it !!! - couldn't be avoided really, it happened all to quick. £4000 worth of damage !!. esure rang me New Years Eve and said it would be written off. Having said all that, as a trade in (with the recession etc) i would have only expected around £2000 to £2500 as trade in, but the insurance have paid out £4100 for it (of which i have to pay my £300 insurance excess, so i'll get £3800 net).

The new Ibiza is a joy to drive !. Not as much power as my Cupra, 105PS vs 180PS, but with it being a much lighter car, it seems to have quite a pokey engine, and a lot better on fuel lol ! - 29mpg vs 37 mpg.......should save me around £50 a month in fuel alone !!

With the equipment it has on (Bluetooth Radio, Digital Climate Control, Metallic Paint and 17" alloys) it retails new at £12,200. This car was a Seat Demo with less than 2,000 on the clock, 08 plate, 5 months old, and got it for £9,800. So not a bad deal really.

Huh?
Refuel at any point. But best to try around a quarter tanks left or so. Never let a car get down to near 5 miles left. You dont need to know how much the tank can hold when refuelling (well you do for setting it up and you said 45 litres so thats goes (/4.56) into the setup). At whatever point say you put in 30 litres just divide that by 4.56 and adjust the percentage at the fillup reset to match the calculated figure.
Oh, yeah just fill up until the pump cuts out. You can add more. Makes no real difference i think as the pump will still show you the added fuel but best to stop at the fuel pump cutoff to have a baseline for each fillup.


Good stuff about the insurance pay out.
So what happens to the car? Can you scavenge it for parts and bits and pieces?

hI XD, as for the leaving the car to the 5 mile left mark, i only meant that for the very first time as a definite calibration to how big the tank size really is (i.e. if it fills up 10 gallons from almost empty then i would set the tank size on the SGII as 10 gallons), or do i just take it as gospel that it's definitely a 9.9 gallon tank (from what the handbook says) ?

I always usually leave it till 25% fuel remaining then i fill up till pump shut off, so all should be okay from now on !

I think the insurance company will sell the car for parts because the address they asked me to send the V5 to was Copart UK. I assume they are dismantling agents ??. The thing which puzzles me is, why did they write it off because of £4000 damage, then pay me £4100 for it !!!!! weird !!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Just did the TPS calibration so that i can set the CUT OFF.

In my car, driving in gear with foot off accelerator at 30mph = 12. Coasting at 40 = 13, coasting at 50 = 14. TPS seems to rise slightly with speed, not sure why. Would it be safest to set TPS in my case to 16 (as that is the highest TPS reading + 2). Or would it be best to set it at 14 (the 30mph TPS figure + 2, as 30mph is my average mph most days) ?

(Or doesn't it really matter too much lol ?)

Seems so. the TPS values seem high.
My Leon is around 3.
But i suppose its different for each car.

16 or 17 should be ok

Just saw the installation video. Lots of wires and big control box.
But im sure could neatly be installed

Can hide it all by the steering column and have the remote in the ashtray.

Wireless remote would have been ideal.

My scangauge as been sent back, the backlight started to flicker so i couldn't see it at night.
I'll install my PLX 200 now to see which i prefer long term.

Yeah i got it off someone selling it on here, can be got cheaper of ebay i believe, but still over the £200 mark.
