Over the Christmas holiday, I was sent the full SEAT accessory catalogue. In it, there is a Brembo brake conversion kit, for 18" wheels, with an ET of 50mm.

Will this suit a K1??

Dealer is offering 15% discount on list price. (£1450 list). Wondered what you guys thought??

apparently seat didnt go down the brembo route with the cupra as the oem brakes are better.
and if youve ever really stomped on yours youll know they are very impressive already.
i dont know of any 1p cupra owners that have uprated the brakes.

Personal opinion as a dealer? The Brembo kit is way too expensive from SEAT. I would rather have good standard Cupra brakes with poss a pad upgrade and braided hoses. Bill at Badger5 is the man . . . . .

if you dont have the cupra ones as you said probably will be the best upgrade path with good brake pads like hawk or fedoro braided hoses and good brake liquid (cant remember the correct name right now) until you hit certain amount of power i think with the K04 up to stage II is what i would take on those brakes, with bigger turbos i would change to the ECS kit or AP racing

i'm considering a brembo or tarox upgrade, but not from stealers. a lot cheaper from independant. could get them within 3 weeks. the cupra brakes are good but when u do track days they won't fair as well as multi-pot brakes. brembos for me are not much more than cupra brakes to upgrade, as i would need braided lines, uprated discs and pads to get ahead of a brembo kit.
Cupra/R32 brakes compensate for the lack of multipot caliper with a bigger diameter disc. I've asked several independents and the say it's a waste of money for me to upgrade to cupra brakes when i could get tarox or brembo kits for similar money.
At the end of the day, it's all about what you need your brakes to perform. the ECS brakes are lovely and i'd agree they are probably the best brakes for our cars, but i don't want porcshe stamped on the side of the caliper of my brakes.

R32 brakes are about £600, braided lines £80, pads about £100, discs over to £200. total is about £980 for what i would be looking at. Brembos and Tarox for me are about that price. But i would prefer to have brembo or tarox stamped on the caliper any day over just red caliper with nothing on them.

Have you done any track days? I was using the standard 312mm brakes for several trackdays at 250hp, and they were pretty good.

Also, with big brake kits, you have to consider the repacement parts are going to be mega expensive as well. A set of front pads for my AP's are £220.

Have a look at my brake guide in the Mk2 Leon FAQ section for some options.
