Recently changed HU for a Sony, and now i don't get any AM reception.
Previous factory fit HU worked fine on all band as well.
I know it's not the HU as the HU worked fine on all bands in the previous car.
Is there somehting i'm missing here?

If its like a VW connection you need to disconnect the wire goin to the K-line, which is normally a blue and white wire off the back of the unit. You can use this wire to power a power amplifier, PC5-52 (halfords sell them as well as most ICE shops).

This is a great thread to check if your setup is the same as the mk4 golf, especially if you look at the last part of the DIY.

I use a aerial booster. Got it of the bay for about 6 quid and used the blue remote live for a amp to power it. Works a treat.

I think the factory fit stereo already has a signal booster in it already... ...Meaning they made the rest of the Ariel system weaker than it should be so if you removed the factory fit stereo then you would have a greater chance of bring the car back to them to fix it.

Standard HU though... a bit crap in my opinion!

Maybe, I don't know.

Maybe a google is in order.

Good old Wikipedia:

"Medium Wave (MW) is a part of the Medium frequency (MF) radio band used mainly for AM broadcasting. Some experiments and trials are planned or under way for a digital modulation such as Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM)[1]. For most of the world the frequencies used for broadcasting are from 515 kHz-1629 kHz, and in North America an extended MW broadcast band goes from 515 kHz-1715 kHz."

So we were both right! :funk: Radio is still rubbish IMHO

Just leave the ipod in the glove box and navigate it with the HU or steering wheel controls :D

Think they are about £100 now in Halfrauds.

Help!!!

HELP!!!

I fitted the PC5-52 to the car and it got my MW reception, then the radio went off and the door locked.

Why would the doors lock!?

I fitted the power cable for the PC5-52 to the Red cable from the ignition as this was the only cable that became live when the ignition is switched on.

So it's either the fuse on the back on the stereo or the one in the fuse box.

I'm at work just now so I don't have my manual, where is the fuse box?
