EGR vacuum pipe disconnection

having read about the many probs people seem to get with the EGRs on their cars i thought i'd try removing the vacuum pipe off the top of the EGR unit on my leon mk1 as recommended on one thread.

the persistent flat spot between 1,500 and 2,000 rpm is now gone. is there any problem with leaving this vacuum pipe disconnected or will it cause problems??? I've blocked the pipe up and was thinking of getting a "race pipe" anyway but in the meantime i don't want to leave it disconnected if it's going to damage anything, but not having that flat spot is awesome!!!

any advice appreciated!!

Leaving it disconnected wont cause any damage.

Depending on your ECU it may give you a dashboard error light after 3 starts (I think Jabba told me a EGR light will come on after 3-4 starts)

so removing the EGR gace you 3bhp??? i got a fault come up so i reset it and put the vacuum pipe back on. annoyed that the flat spot is back. does it matter if you drive the car with the fault light on?

If you know the fault light is purely down to the disconnected EGR then it wont matter if you drive with the light on.

However, if another fault does occur at the same time then how would you know? Apart from doing a fault scan everyday.

Jabba quoted an extra 3HP (on the top side) after the race pipe is fitted.
