Haven't seen your car around but if I do, I'll give you a flash so if you see a Red Leon flashing then you know why haha

How many of you guys have done your dipped and high beam?

Been thinking of getting some H1's as when i use the high beam its a horrible yellow colour compared to the 6000k HID's Ive got. Having both fitted must light up the dark country roads brilliantly yeah???

i got the 6k look really ice white but still a bluey colour to them, got to remember the higher colour temperature you go the more light output you lose, its hard to tel from pictures i guess.

everybody normally fits the ballast to the battery cover (not the one which comes off- the battery shroud)

Always hard to find a place to fit the other one. if you remove the washer bottle, two 10mm nuts you will find a place to fit it behind there can squeeze it near the wing and cable tie it all in safely and still use the bracket. out the way and secure.

i think 6k is the standard ones which are in range rovers/bmw etc i havnt seen any 8k or 10k yet. have fitted around 15 of these to different cars and have never had any problems. from the dianne shop ebay.

I'm having another problem,
When switching my sidelights and headlights on,it causes the water temp and fuel gauge to flicker and then turn off!!but then comes back on after about 5secs,i dont think this would be caused by fitting the HID's im sure it was doing it before I fitted them!just didn't notice!

What do you guys think?loose bulbs maybe, loose connection! :( it really gets on my nerves it doesnt even do it when I'm going over bad road or bumps, just seems to do it when it wants!!!

Thanks...

i've done both, main beam still flashes fine, and have lasted over 6 months now (touch wood) - they take a few seconds to reach full brightness, but once lit they are amazing :) i live in the sticks and don't see too many other cars at night, so my main beam gets alot of use!

The other thing about 6k hids is that the suns black body radiation ie light is at approx 6k, so your eyes after a couple of millenium have evolved to see well at this spectrum. the reason they look blue and sunlight yellow is that sunlight is scattered by the atmosphere! So the best colours to use are 4.3 and 6k, 4.3 because the hid is most efficient and producing most lumens and 6k cos thats what nature (or god/gods) designed you eye to use! Phew rant off!!!!

Where did you put your four ballasts mate? I'm gonna get some H1's when pay day comes, should really have asked Santa for them

How long to fit them?? took me about 1hr,and as for drilling all you need is a 25mm drill bit to put a hold in the cover so you can put the bulb through and make a tidy job! :)

I fitted mine a while ago now and what a superb upgrade for any car.

for an OEM look i stuck to 6k .... more white than blue.... ;) had 8k on all my old mk4 golfs, thought id try 6k this time ... the output of light is more you see than 8k and above .. basically ... the higher you go in "K" ... the less theh light output.
