93 top speed :s

why is this? i have a 1.6 (with a 1.4 gearbox) but i can only get 93 top speed??

any ideas??

15" but the speed would not show as the speedometer is ran by the gearbox not the wheels

well ive got 17's on now so when im goin 60 its actually 64, so my speedo says about 85-90 when its about 100ish

Diff' Wheel size will change your reading on your speedo.

Your prob doing about 98?

is it a 1.6 mk2 you have btw? thought you cud only get 1.6 in the mk3...

yeah it is a 1.6 mk2, engine from a polo salloon, i still have the 1.4 ecu so it might have something to do with that maybi?

When i had a 96 mk2 1.3 i could only get 95mph out of it. That was before my 6 points though.

If the ECU thinks it's still a 1.4 then it's probably underfuelling.

To be honest as long as it will sit quite nicely at 70 / 80 you don’t need any more. There are too many bored policemen sitting around to want to go fast.

Wait till you’ve had to go to court and stand in front of 3 people and wait while they decide the fate of your licence…its not nice mate. Don’t get me wrong, I like to have a play with the saxo boys and clito queens but if I get another 6 points I loose my job and then I am foooked. It’s not worth it.

As for the top speed i had treble figures out of my old 1.4 on 13 inch steelies (on a private unrestricted piece of tarmac of course).

Going back to my first beeza, I spent many a college lunch break bombing up and down the A38 with the wu tang clan sounding out of my 6x9’s making the parcel shelf jump up and down….ahhhh, first car memories !....it was a decent 1.3i engine though and never gave me any trouble. Just wish I had a picture ! – Great little car.
