I have seen a few cars at work, When people unlock the car the headlights or sidelights come on. Just wondering if this is possible to do on the Ibiza via Vagcom.

Thought it was a nice feature.

Yes you could do it as sugested above.
Use the interior light power to switch a relay which in turn switched the lights on. BUT! If you did it this way then whenever you put your interior light on you lights would come on aswell :(

yep your right there but the golf mk4 has 3 interior lights on front and then 2 more in the back u only need to wire up to 1 of them from the front and then not use that 1 so it was okay for me lol

putting a diode into the supply wire used would stop that happening

that's if it did indeed backflow when the interior light is manually turned on

The thing with the interior light is that it is negative switched, providing you overcome that there should be no need for a diode IMO as long as you use a relay, no voltage from the interior light= no relay pulled on (contacts open circuit) so no way of volts flowing from headlamps to interior light.

EDIT.

Flapper is correct a diode will be needed for when you switch on the interior light manually. I'll shut up now...................

Can this be done with vag-com ??

No difference. The light has three wires going to it; a perminant live, and perminant earth and a switched earth.

When the light is set to come on when the door is open, the live feeds, passes through the bulb, and then earths through the circuit which has now been completed by the door open switch.

When you manually turn the light on, it completes the circuit between the perminant earth and live. In doing so it has no effect on the switched earth, the one which completes the circuit for the headlight relay.

However, the headlights will turn on whenever a door is opened, but to be honest i haven't found a bad thing about this yet.

Hope that all makes sense lol

Yep, that makes sense to me now, I haven't looked at the interior light wiring in debth other than the fact that interior lights are normally negative/earth swithed anyway.

I'm glad it has a seperate earth for the manual switch, I'm gonna do this mod now but have the front fogs rather than headlights. Might as well get some use out of them otherwise they will never get used.

Good good, only thing i'm still uncertain about is making the tailights come on too.

Can wire it up to sidelights but it means the buzzer will sound as soon as you open the door.....

Depends what outputs are on the light switch, i think the no plates on the ibizas run off the sidelights. On the switch you have, left sidelights, right sidelights, dipped beam, main beam, front fogs and rear fogs iirc
