well had a few issues with car lately, leon cupra r 210 ( standard ), including my turbo giving a loud whinnnning noise under acceleration, well this morning starts the car and the whinning had gone :D superb i thought drove off down the road to an even louder whiiiing noise :censored: i thought. got car towed to weston performance in birmingham who after several roads tests and checking pipes up on ramps to discover my turbo gone tits up, removed turbo to discover the spindle and bearing is knackered car was still pulling strong and running perfect well except for turbo  so massive bill now 6 days before xmas there going to either souce a cheaper supplier of brand new unit or use a company called midlands turbo's in nottingham who do exchange and recon units all with warrenties.... so wish me luck ohhhh the credit cards gonna get a bashing saves me having my pants pulled down by the stealers :headhurt:

Feel for you mate, my doors just gone a bit mental so never locks or never opens. Always when you really dont want it but theres never a good time either. As for turbos anyone know what bearings do hybrids come with? Are stock items 270o thrust bearings and hybrids 360o thrust bearings?

may sound like a silly question but not very knowledgeable when it comes to turbos...whats the benefit of a hybrid turbo over a regular one?

If you can do without car for a few days i would send your old turbo away in exchange for a hybrid replacement, good excuse to upgrade it,couple of companies advertise on here do hybrids. As long as yours is in a servicable state (housing not cracked)then you can get an exchange unit,it still wont be cheap but you will end up with a better turbo. You will probably need car mapping to take into account hybrid turbo though.

to be safe anyway (which I know I often bang on about) but get a 360 thrust bearing fitted as part of the hybrid treatment, allows higher and more sustained boost and ensures the compressor wheel does not fail and rub against the inlet housing

worth every penny IMO - hybrid gt2x is opening up still and flying at the moment :D

i would go for a hybrid turbo if your into ur modding. as already stated,a FMIC and remap would go hand in hand with this so you may end up spending more than you originally intend to...

I think if mine did go then i would put a hybrid on mine. it never stops with the spending. hope you get it sorted and enjoy what you decide
