On the subject of insurance...
It's worth giving Admiral a go.

I'm 17, insured as a named driver under my dad and paying £1037 on my TDi 110 Leon...

Something tells me maybe they wont like a remap so much though...

this is not aimed at anyone specific so please don't anyone take offence:blink: but the above statement is (if taken literally) an offence which I understand is called "fronting" and will most likely end up with a voided insurance in the event of a claim. If you younger fellas are going "on your own" then if you put down dad or better still mum as an additional named driver it should save some money, don't forget insurers surf the net TOO  :)

I insured with a local broker as they were far cheaper than any of the major companies.

I'm 24 with 3 Yrs NCB, all mods declared and I'm paying £475 fully comp on my 110. :)

Regarding the above comment, a lad I used to work with, insured his car as a named driver on his dad's insurance.

He had an accident that wasn't his fault, and as he was a named driver, the insurance company automatically launched an investigation. At the end, they refused to pay out, and they took him to court and it cost him over £6000, all for a £800 VW Golf. :(

thats correct it is called fronting....

i wanted to do this when i was 17, but i spoke to a few companies and they told me not to bother, so i bit the bullet and paid £1500, i was lucky because my parents put some money aside for me for when i was 18, but i was very charming and persuasive (also a fantastic speller) and begged and whined and did the normal teenagery thing and got it early.... still meant i didnt have anything physically in my hands for the entire money my parents saved for me... but i was much happier driving around, in a car i paid for entirely by myself and fixed and repaired and serviced all by myself.. the only help came from my parents for the enormous insurance premium

:D
thanks for reading my long massive post :D
