Hi to all,
Only just signed up after purhasing my leon cupra 180:). Its an 03 52 in red with 44K on the clock:D. Found some of the info that i read in some of the threads really useful prior to buying it.

Got a couple of questions. A few days after i picked up the car the EM light came on. after plugging it into diagnostics found out that it was an airflow fault. Is this a common fault?
How often will this occur? and if the airflow fault is fixed and the light remains on any suggestions on what to try next?

Secondly this is my first Euro car as all my others have been Jap so i'm not all that clued up about the reliability. can i expect the same level of reliability from my Seat as i had from my Honda's?

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated

maf sounds the right place to start

As for perfromance the Seats, are sh*t hot.......
well ballanced power is smooth and powerful accross the hole rev range esp & abs both work well together.leons will be all over hondas like a rash, the amount of times i have had a type r pull up to race me in my lcr. and they think there going to win!!............... muppets........ any way

As for honda.....where do you want me to start.................???????????????????????
there first type R is a load of rubbish arse end happy me and my bro both wrote ours off due to a arse end that isnt tunned right!!! look at the touring cars the the type r on 51plate to54 spend more time coming of the track in corners then they do on the track!! (told you not to get me started!!) lol

Another one who has defected from Honda, welcome!

Reliability...no, SEAT won't be as good in that department I am afraid. My LCR has already had more issues than my old 140,000 miler Civic VTi which had...errr...no problems ever :D. Saying this, they haven't been big issue, just a couple of niggles.

The 1st U.K Type R, Civic (EP3) that is, is complete rubbish I must say and I agree with slim on that. However, a JDM version is much much better. Better internals, suspension, lighter & higher BHP, very capable of matching an LCR if not beating it indeed. Same goes for the JDM Integra Type R fitted with the same engine.

Go for a non pre-oiled filter like green cotton or pipercross as oiled ones mess up the maff big time. Iv always used K&N but had to change the maf twice when i had one on my LCR. Now iv got a pipercross and have had no problems. And the maf is a 2 min job which can be done in the car park at euro car parts.

really easy mate. pick one up from the dealer for bout 80 quid, give your old one in and that'll be bit less, dont qoute me on exact price, or you can get one from gsf or euro car parts. changing is simple. sits right after the air filter box. its got a wee plug coming out. undo the jubileee clip on the engine side holding the tip to the mass air meter and then undo two screws connecting the mass air meter to the airbox. take out and swap with new one. remember to reconnect plug lol. thats it. hope thet helps. good luck.

Not true. Ive used K&N cone filter on several cars and never had any problems. However, if during filter cleaning/re-oiling you do something wrong you can mess up ure MAF.

I've had a quick look on a couple of other threads on the subject and they look to agree with Greg.
Many have said that fitting a K&N has caused them problems. Think I'll prob go the replacement element route and stick with green.

Cheers for the replies guys
