camber

hi all, i know my car is not really here for me to do anything to but i noticed that the inner of my tyres are wearing.. i know its not the tracking so belive its the camber.. how is the camber adjusted on these? do they use the camber bolts like early vw's do. ?? i was thinking about getting some made up if not, anyone know if they would work?

just slacken the 2 nuts and bolts on the stut to hub, then you have loads of adjustment. adjust as required then retighten.

how much can you go tho, is it all or nothing? as on the caddy it was shockingly hard to do it with minimal movement, so i fitted the cambe bolts and they work well...perhaps im just being a mong

will work if u have a 18mm or 19mm spanners or ratchets and bar may help to use as leverage easy to do

I think you will find that the only way you can adjust the camber like that is if you have coilovers fitted... You might be able to get a lil bit of adjustment out of the bottom ball joint!

no, its on all models, ive got a 96 pre facelift 1.9d base spec and the camber is fully adjustable, large amounts too, as i had to do it after fitting alloys

I think there is 2 ways of adjusting the camber...the 2 nuts and bolts going through the bottom of the strut if slackened give a little bit of adjustment but also there are 3 small bolts on the underneath of the wishbone which also allow some adjustment!

However i done both of the above and fully adjusted it to give negative camber as it looked really positive and still hasnt changed has anyone got any ideas of what it could be? Because to look at the front of my car the front offside wheel is really kicking out at the top compared to the nearside

its not that noticable from the pic but if you compare it with the rear you can slightly see it but im not that bothered as the cars off the road now being fully restored and converted so you know! just wondered if i could shed some light on it lol

the rear normally does camber in more.. i try and get a pic of mine tomoz as lowered mine on adjustable shocks and spring and my wheels sit in on the back and only reason my fronts match is that got diff bushes on them and set the camber negative as possible tryin to go lower on ront as too high what u puttin in it?

yeah i did notice but if you were to look at mine in the flesh at certain angles you can really see the difference compared to the opposite side! But i should be picking up a whole new front and rear subframe set up etc off a gti this weekend so i can paint and powdercoat everything then just swap it over...hopefully that sorts it! Anyway my dads mate owns a scrap yard with a few vr6s dotted around and im going to enquire about 1 out of a corrado (the 2.9 190 bhp 1) or if not jus 1 out of the golf will do lol

Im having camber issues of my own, but thats cos I am trying to add a degree of negative camber at the rear - tyre munching summer time!!!

Was getting some made up for me, but the guy has gone awol - they looking less likely for ultimate dubs - unless we wind the coils up and run hot rod for the weekend haha
