dashboard turned up 3 days late.

when i opened it it was also grey not black as i asked for and has scratches on it....gutted

the only thing to do in this situation......flock the f|_|cker

should be ready saturday

Just swap the flocked dash for my cupra one. Mine isnt even in the car so it would be easy I wont even charge you anything! lol!

i think im liking the idea of flocking it now. its just im tight and didnt want to spend extra money lol

got dash back today...48hrs turn around...top job

was carrying the dash in to the garage and the glove box front fell off and got damaged
i thought it had been fitted but it was just placed on. so need to re-flock it!
will get it done once i have my door cards and i get them flocked

hopefuly i will have pics 2m of it fitted

today was frustrating to say the least.

i re-taped the wiring loom and got everything ready to install dash.
i then fitted dash and bolted it up on drivers side.
when i went to bolt up the passenger side the studs behind the dash where 1.5" away. in the right place just too near to the bulkhead. when i dug out the cupra one i had (which i thought i had fitted) i realised they looked the same but sat differently....

so after completly removing the dash along with the fan unit and had re-fitted the correct bracket i was actually worse off than what i was at 9am

i carryed on getting it all back in, bearing in mind in not in the garage due to the kit car and it was p!ssing it down. just before dark i had most of it in and connected. Happy days, starting to feel like a vario cupra now

i tryed the central locking and the buttons seemed to be working....untill i realised i couldnt get out

anyone got any ideas? doorcard is off and i cant unlock it. key from outside does nothing so im abit stuck. i had to get out of back doors as they wernt locked luckily

also, Q for roly. what did you do about the screws/mounts in the ends of the dash? they done line up with the brackets. thanks

It's getting there mate!
My dash is held in with the 4 on the back then the bracket behing the center console. I still need to fab up something for the sides but mine seems pretty rigid without.

i know there is a support the drops down in the centre but didnt think it connects to anything. doesnt on my blue on anyway!
plus the new dash is missing it. didnt realise brerakers had snapped it off untill i got it back from flocking

Mine has a little gold bracket that holds it in. It's got one nut that holds it to the dash and one that holds it to the floor.

oh that. cant see it doing much. so far i have the 4 main nuts. and the one bolt by the steering column

once the lower sides are sorted i think i will be ok

Not using the side ones on mine (been like that since i fiited it) as Martin say's the 4 main ones at the top of the dash, the one behind the centre console and then the 2 L shaped brackets at the very bottom of the dash to the A pillars

What door catches & key are you using for the locking ?? the 5 door uses a different set-up on the back of the handle than the 3 door

i changed the lock etc from the cupra. opened and closed ok just didnt like being locked.

Try the vario handle and key, if you compare the rod on the back of the 2 you should find the vario 1 is slightly longer, this could be why it wont lock

Need to get a screw driver up into the catch to try and lever it open, could be that it's deadlocked itself
