The -10.3 is the fuel setting when doing a fillup. Calculated as consistant over many refills using the excel calibration file I sent you.

hi xd, but isn't the -10.3 is going to be different each fill up, surely ??. It depends at what level you fill up at ?. I always fill up very close to the 1/4 mark give or take a tiny bit, but each time this figure varies depending on how much fuel it takes to fill up to the brim (+/- a gallon or so). If i was to set it to -10.3 every time then this would not be a true reflection of the exact amount of fuel i have put in (as shown on the petrol pump). Or am i completely wrong about that

i agree ! - however, check out the videos, it might look decent in the air vent, if you could do a proper job of installing it ! - i couldn't !!

I think you are wrong. It is not really used to get scangauge to give the exact amount of fuel put in. I use to get the overall scangauge mpg data to be accurate. The exact fuel amount does fall in line mostly though
When i fullup i basically fill up the car. Doesnt matter what point the tank is at before the fillup. Thats irrelevent.
The -10.3 comes from the over all calulation based on many fillups as is used to adjust the difference in scangauge reported mpg versus actual mpg.
at this stage the scangauge mpg is almost bang on exact as with actual hand calulation from the odometer and fuel used.
The figure did vary over time from 9.0 to 9.1 and has been steady exact at 10.3 for the last five fillups.
By the way, say you go in and it is set to 10.1 but you need 10.3 and when you click + or - it goes something like 9.8 for example. you just leave it at 10.1 press Done. Then go back again through fillup process and then can adjust it in .1 increments.
Over 15 fillups i have an actual mpg of 27.239 with the scangauge adjusted mpg reporting 27.246
I have that excel spreadsheet in my phone that update at each fillup before resetting the scangauge and driving off. can take a while though
Nev_LCR had one where the cup holder was, looked alright. I know he is working on mounting it elsewhere now though.

A) Are you saying that as long as you always fill to the brim then ALWAYS get the fillup data to read "-10.3%" regardless of the fact that it might not read the exact amount of fuel going in (as read on the petrol pump) ? (i.e. don't even try to make the "gallons" match, just make the +/- % always read -10.3 after every fill up ?
B) Will it this -10.3% be different if the car is different, i.e. i have the Leon Cupra 1.8VT (not the R).

I believe we both agreed before that -2 for speed setting was correct.
The fuel one will be dependent on your car.
It will also need to be calculated at each fillup.
mine ended up being consistant at 10.3 but was often 9.9.
I dont just enter 10.3 now i do all the calcs using the spreadsheet on my phone but as it seems to be consistant now i may stop and leave it as 10.3
As your scangauge has been reset its the best time for you to start the calibration.
I dont try match the gallons calculation. You can just do that if you want. then compare the mpg on the scangauge, the mpg reading on your car (if you have that - i dont) and more importantly a manual calculation of it.
But you can use the spreadsheet to get it far more accurate offset figure.

Cheers xd !, yeah i have the mpg on the trip computer so i will try and start to compare the 2 readings. Since the SG has just been reset i'll match the gallons at pump with gallons entered for a few fill-ups and see if the % reading seems steady.
Also yep i agree with the -2 for speed, mine is set to that as it seems to agree with the sat nav when set to -2.

Well further to my original post, i have just done a fill up and to my total ANNOYANCE!!! the scangauge still says 555 gallons at the fill up stage !!!! - even though i had reset it a few days back when i had the initial problem (see post 31) !. Somehow it is still remembering the previous settings even though i did a "more - more - more - use defaults", or is this not a FULL reset ? - how do i do a FULL reset so it forgets all previous data as if buying it from new ?
NB. I'm just now wondering if the 555gallons can be left as it is and simply concentrate on the +/-% figure and take that up to around 10.1% (which is what it always was before i started having trouble). Setting the +/-% figure to 10.1% will take the gallons entered to well over 555gallons in my case, but will it sort itself out on fillup number 2 ??

mine reads around 78 to 85 in this cold weather, in normal weather it can be 85 to 90. Idling in traffic it gets up to 96-98, never reached 100 yet.

Is that the scangauge cWT reading or your cars temp reading?
My car usually sits slighly to the left of 90 but the scangauge says around 76.
Took a long while to get up to temp today was sitting slightly to right of 82.5 in the car with scangauge showing 72

Mines around the same which is ok, ambient temp is really playing a part in the differences.

yeah the gauge in the car is too innaccurate to compare with the SG. My car's needle usually sits bang on 90, even when the SG is 80-95.
