Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve

Hi everyone!

Recently I've been having this fault, but is able to "cure" it by clearing the faults.

17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)

I've only noticed this at temperatures around -2 - +4 celcius?
What could cause this? The car is remapped, but have ran fine for almost about 8 months know, bailey DV is fitted.

The only thing I have noticed, is that the faults came after I had my clutch and flywheel changed? Could this have ANYTHING to do with a clutch/flywheel change? Concerning the dis- assembling?

To test if your DV has failed remove the DV, press the diaphragm up, put your thumb on the top nipple, and then release the diaphragm. There should be suction created on the top of the DV that prevents the diaphragm from returning. If there is no suction then the diaphragm is leaking and the valve should be replaced. IF the valve is good, check the VAC line leading up to the valve for any cut’s/ tears

That's for the stock DV - not sure if the piston-style DV is the same (I imagine so) - also it is the DV30 full-recirc DV you've got, and not a Bailey full-atmos one?

I have this error but have only had the error since having a Forge DV/Tip/Nomex turbo hose, fitted by Awesome. Thing is the car drives fine and hold boost fine. I don't have a gauge fitted yet but can hear the DV working. Constant throttle and the boost holds, soon as I let off a tiny bit it dumps. This is my first turbo car but it drives fine and as before. I don't think I have a leak.

The is a software fault not hardware

Some stock software has incorrect values in the IAT maps causing this error, and sometimes loss of turbo until you restart the engine. This can/should be corrected in the software by your tuner

Sorry to bump this thread, am getting this same fault code with my hand held reader! So would you guys just advise that its nothing particularly worth worrying about??

Talked with my remapper, he says the error would have appear last winter, if it was due to the faulty map.

I'm suspecting my DV, so I will change the bailey dv-30 with a forge 007p.

im running standard map! Just fitted a new induction kit! Have you tried servicing the dv?

I havent really noticed any issues with the car other than it seems to struggle at first start up ie it idles fine but just doesnt seem to pull at all - almost like im trying to pull away in third or something, after 10 secs or so it seems to be back to its usual self, but im fairly sure that this is an unrelated matter.

Have you tried your MAF? Try unplugging it then starting from cold - you'll get the CEL on, but that should clear if you plug your MAF back in and leave it overnight :)

MrJohnnyB:

No havent tried to service the bailey DV, but I just changed the Dv instead.

It's funny with your power loss, cause i think i'm experiencing the same, sometimes it doesnt feel like its boosting correctly, no pull at all, but if I turn off the car and turn it on again. It will boost fine!

Would you think it could be on the way out? or just completely gone? I'm not feeling like replacing my maf at the mo, but then again im not feeling like spending any money at the moment, curses being involved in the property market! Will give it a go though, wouldnt a knackered maf through up different faults tho?!

many of us get this soft limp from very cold starts. restarting clears it.

MAF seems to throw all kinds of probs - narrowed a strange prob on ours to (likely) being the MAF on the way out - not enough that it puts the CEL on, but when booting it at 3k in 4th/5th/6th engine revs to the redline without putting any power down - disconnected MAF and tried again and engine was fine - MAF is always first port of call for strange problems for me

Stealers are doing MAF's at £63 exchange - I think you can get them for ~£45 from GSF or ECP but not sure about the warranty - you get 2 year warranty from a stealer :)

my car still has the approved used warranty, but my problem is, when i removed the cold air feed to the old air box to fit my new CAI induction kit i got a bit frustrated after not figuring how to remove it, and consequently it kinda snapped a lot (The bit around the headlight!) so i could bung the old air filter back on n try and get it done under warranty! but at £63 is it really worth ****ing around and just replace the MAF? Warranty runs out on 22/12/08!
