HIDs are not for me. I'm getting a refund.

I have an "aftermarket" HID Xenon Kit fitted on my Mk4 Ibiza.

The light emitted I'd say is definately a cleaner, more crisp light - that lights up the road so much better than standard bulbs! The Kit cost me close to £300, fitted by a professional tuning company.

NOTE: Not a cheap £50 kit found on EBay, fitted as a DIY job in front of my house.
Flew through the last 2yrs MOT's with the HID's fitted and they didn't even get a mention.

It will always be the case, when the minority start using something different from the 'norm', the majority will always be up in arms - we are human, we dont like change.
(as in this case with HID's being superior over standard headlights).

I will continue to have my HID's fitted on my Ibiza no matter what 'your' argument here.
Also according to law (having passed 2 MOT's so far with them fitted) they are operating legally too. End of story.

You mean you overspent and paid for fitting too? I have seen expensive kits and apart from the fancy box and sticker on the ballast they look no different. Mine have been on for 18 months now with no issues and I paid £40. Even these are closer to £30 now. I fitted myself and I can't see why they would need to be professionally fitted?. It's two bloody wires to connect and a bit of drilling and I am a mechanical numpty

On a number of occasions on this Forum (SCN) I have offered anyone the opportunity to compare the quality and clarity of their HID Kit next to mine - Those that have the EBay £50 Kit (or any other cheapy sub £100 kit) parked next to my ride, with my PREMIUM HID Kit fitted - however no-one has stepped up to this challenge.

Note my Kit also has additional wiring harnesses fitted, installed between the cars wiring and the HID Kit wiring, for additional continuity. 2 wires is all thats needed for your Kit eh? :cartman: Says it all.

I've seen a number of cars in recent months, at night, that I can say have a cheap kit fitted - the light emitted looks garish, tacky and blue - hardly looks like its projecting any decent light onto the road ahead. Infact a set of Philips extra bright bulbs would probably provide better light clarity! .

You might THINK your Kit is something special and you saved alot of money, but park it next to a PREMIUM Kit, like the one I have, and see if you maintain that smug wit that you are attempting to portray here. ;)

 your talking about a relay harness that's an additional £9 for running direct from the battery. Hardly makes the difference in price IMO.
The light emitted is white and tbh they are 10x better than standard lights so I'd rather park next to another car with an extra £250 in my pocket and still have better than OE lights than have paid for a 'premium' kit for that extra 100 candles of brightness. How much would you like for the rose tinted glasses? :D

...don't require rose tinted glasses, they clash with the garish blue light emitted from these cheap HID Kits, thanks. :)

This is getting tedious! This conversation is........ over. ;)

Surely the "garish blue light" is down to the different bulb ie 5000k, 6000k etc?

a bit off the main topic but i removed my piaa tera's and fitted 'purer' white sidelight bulbs to match the hid's - its not all about brightness!!!! saying that, i defend my 'expensive' kit as it is infinitely better than the ebay cheap s***e i bought first - i still havent been flashed at and i feel a lot better driving round the back roads in the dark. each to their own but i still believe hid's are a valuable improvement if fitting a good kit properly. makes me wonder about the quality of mot checks as i am dazzled daily by bog standard badly aligned bulbs.
