Hey,

I have a nice colour coded car, with a bumper without a cut off. I don't want a new bumper, and I don't want to cut into the bumper as it never ends up looking right!

However, a new exhaust would be nice. Something a bit better. I don't want to be heard for 5 miles away :ban: but I'd like a tiny bit of something.

But - without a new bumper - how do I do it? Any suggestions? :D

firstly wat is it??engine wise....... just have a browse on the tinterweb n see wat you can find ... or go to any exhaust specialist.... wat kinda zorst u wanting???

And without the cut out the zorst is gona have to come underneath the bumper...may be too low to the floor then... myLC is lowered and has the cut out... and the backbox is very low to the floor.... may be a problem

buy a bumper with a cutout in??

get some one to fabricate a cutout?

go for a discreet style exhaust box.... like the vw diesels, but thats just boring, id suggest getting someone handy with plastics to machine you a cutout, youd get it looking much better than the cupras anyway as its toooooo big for the peashooter tailpipe..

you coulod source a cupra rear bumper but pricey after spraying and fitting.

dpj machined his own second cutout for a twin exit and it looky mint.

what engine you running on?

It's running a 1.8 Non Turbo.

I'd consider hanging it below if I could get it to look alright. But I've not seen a cut out done right yet! lol. Ideally I'd like to it slot behind the existing bumper.

You can buy an OE trim part (LCR style) to tidy up the bumper cut out. It comes with the Seat Sport exhaust for the Mk1 which has a 6" x 4" oval tail pipe... No. 14 in the pic >>>

I bought mine on ebay cheap... not sure if it would fit the N/A 1.8 (it's for the 20VT & TDi models).

Just remembered it came in the box with a cut out template & fitting instructions... thought the LCR style cut out trim may be of interest for what you're wanting to do... cheaper than a whole new bumper! :D Wouldn't have thought it would cost that much... and I assume you can buy it as a seperate item?

I like the oval backbox ... was thinking of buying a second hand one off an LCR and fitting it... are they any louder than the twin pea shooters u get on LC's????

The smg site states:

Reference : 1M0072002
Stainless steel exhaust pipe with eliptic muffler tail personalized by SEAT Sport; the third section of the exhaust pipe comes with a silencer suitable for 1.9 TDi 66 kw/90 hp, 1.9 TDi 81 kw/110 hp, 1.9 TDi 110Kw/150 hp, 1.8 20V 92 kw/125 hp Leon engines (2 driving-wheels); includes plastic coating for bumper modification.

I have the 1.8 20V 125hp Leon - so this should fit =)

I have the same engine, looked into this option a while back and I think the dealer wanted somewhere in the region of £400+ for it. That might have changed since then so its worth asking!
