How would you acheive that with the select plus box?

Ramp up boost for more agressive power delivery, but be aware that the torque will fall away more quickly when you do this.

yes mate i read your post... dosnt the control unit cost extra... equaling another tuners stage 2 map?

if the 349+vat includes the controller then that is very good vfm.

does it?

your dealer will set the car up the way you want it! or you can purchase a select plus within 28days of having the software for 99+VAT!

Because the boost isn't sustainable without other mods, so the power drops off?

Power will still increase, but you will find it tops out sooner with high boost. Torque is affected before this happens though due to things like inlet temperatures etc. This is where intercoolers and other modifications make a difference to a cars set up.

I need to get a select switch. Torque on mine is 270ft/lbs it should be nearer 300-310?

Depends on what the boost is set to mate. Going by Revos website and Revo cars that have been posted on here, 300-310ft-lbs is a more likelty figure assuming no other modifications on the car.

hiya ppl im a newbie :D:(, just turned 21 and bought myself a cupra 2003, always wanted one since i left school, a dream car if u will. when i test drove it i was over the moon with it. i went through the whole stage before buying where you say to yourself "its more than enough power ill be happy with it stock". 3 weeks into ownership and i want more already:p. shud i think about remapping for instant power or i should i wait for mods then remap ECU? also is there a good way to tune these cars as in a particular order you should buy things?

anysort of help greatly appreciated

the easiest power upgrade will always be software giving you the most "bang for your buck"

software is always first :)

I had a Mk1 Cupra and felt exactly the same. I had it remapped and 2 years later it still made me smile.

It's not just the extra power, it's the way the whole car drives better too.

yeah i think we all say it to ourselves foolishly, wud u say 210 was enough power for the car, as at 180 i find the car still finding it hard to put it to the road....?!

this is true, my right foot is made of lead, and as its my first turbo i feel i have to make noise whilst driving it... in the wet and dry that traction control light still has its own disco no matter what unless u poodle??

Not sure what boost setting its on. It made 297bhp on rollers and the curve is good, power all the way to the red line just down on torque. When it was originally remapped and put on rr it made 305ft/lbs??

It certainly does, but it will no doubt end up getting remapped as well.

It's not massively quicker than my Mk1 but enough to notice. Pulls for longer too.

I never had any traction problems with my other car before it was mapped, and afterwards it would only spin in 1st and 2nd in the wet if I treated the pedal as an on/off switch. That's in a straight line by the way, I've never been one for going round corners too quick.

I also thought it went quicker if I didn't push the pedal all the way to the floor to start with, but that might just have been my imagination. :)
