Glad you liked the trial and are going to keep it. Don't be too down heartened when the trial ends. Aren't Revo currently subject to legal procedings regarding their code reverting back to 'standard' and not running as VAG had dictated???

Unlikely..... they never say that it would anyway. would be a very stupid & uninformed person to waste money on that.

my god, if someone on here could predict when coil packs were about to go, they would be a millionaire by now

maybe we should employ Mystic Meg on here

If your car has a slight misfire, it will be logged on Vagcom i can garauntee it. A mates Ibiza had a coil pack on the way out and his car was running rough. I plugged in vagcom and found "misfire in cylinder 2" error so advised him of a possible spark plug out ( i forgot they had coil packs and i drive a diesel) and he took it to a garage and they checked cylinder 2. found a duff coilpack so he replaced the lot in one go.
You could hear the misfire too, so its unlikely to have one and you not notice.

As i said above mate, Vagcom picked up a misfire on a mates Ibiza, and this was a result of a failing coilpack, so i would imagine that any deteriation of the coilpack would log some kind of fault as it got worse.

id think twice mate ... ive had REVO on 3 out of my last golf mk4 18T's ,,, and i found out from a good source that your car does not actually go back to ITS standard settings affter the trial, its a standard setting that REVO have set themselves. Also, REVO gives u a good whack of torque up to about 5k revs then eases off .... so then wat ?????? hmmmmmm im a bit pessimistic about revo now dude.. it all seems good at the start. also, you got to think, REVO is a GENERIC map, which is not tailored to your specific setup. whether standard or not, every cars different. the same REVO file is uploaded to any petrol 18T.

This is when ppl like Custom Code and Performance Torque come into play, where (for less cost) theyll tailor the map to suit your specific car!!! I seriously recommend you look these guys up before u spend over 400 quid...

regards.

im only being honest my friend.. tailored maps are the way forward. dotn get me wrong though, REVO will give u instant FUN!! it did for me, but as i learnt more, it became more apparent that off the shelf maps dont do everything e.g. they dont identify flat spots so u might see a few dips on a power curve etc. other companies tailor the map to your car... like a one off map for your car only

i think youll find all stage 1 maps are genereic mate...

p-torques generic map is excellent, you will not need a custom map unless you run some decent mods.i.e larger bore dp and sports cat, full exhaust etc etc.

revo has excellent reviews on here as do custom code, bell autos

if you just want a generic map (just- they are awesome), well worth a look at p-torque, superb prices for the same bhp and torque outputs.

will charges something around 285 for members..... revo 399 plus vat? big difference.

i know, i have p-torque stage 1, love it and i got 215 bhp from the map from 180... not that figures bother me, driveability is also excellent.
