Seat UK should have this information - AFAIK I thought that the dealer's had to apply to get it direct from Seat UK anyway, on demand.

bought my 2001 ibiza cupra R over 2year ago. only ever had the one key for it and it never left my sight. well, at the weekend there, went out, got pissed, lost my only key for the car and all in its gona cost me £179.23. and this is once iv got the car on a trailer, made my way on a 30mile trip to edinburgh to get it decoded. this has been one expensive weekend. not only that, iv got all my work stuff in the car, managed to rip my £170 jacket, burst open my knee, wrist and hand n had to take a few days off work. Just what i needed for xmas next month LOL.

I did a search but didnt find anything directly relating to what I was after, basically the key ring part of my key has snapped so I cant actually put my car key on a key ring making it a pain to keep hold of two sets of keys, so im looking at getting a new key and kleeping the current one as a spare.

Does anyone know how much a stealer will charge? Or is it easier to source one of Ebay or the like?

Thanks

Right, you dont need to mess about with all the transponder nonsense as discuseed in this thread.

the key you have comes apart into 2 pieces and you only need to replace the part with the buttons on

so....

get the key in half like in this link (first 2 steps, you dont need to do the rest just snap it aprt into 2 bits)

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=130411

get the part number off it (see pic in thread), get on ebay and find one the same part number (or one that will work with your car)

when you recieve it in the post clip the 2 parts together then recode it as per the link i gave you.
