they are cheap true .. but its like your getting high class hooker in the january sales.. its so good you want more ..then you realise the cheap hooker starts costing you the same as a high class hooker when you start adding things lol ... i would like to note i have not had a hooker lol thats what dartford and swanly is for haha

well yeah its slightly cheaper, but will cost the same to run as it is a performance car.

i love the fact that its an underdog in the hatchback race and surprises a lot of ignorant people.some people dont even know what a leon cupra is!!!!

furthermore,a bright yellow LCR with those sexy 18's (not the girls in the car) and big red brakes rolling down the street turns a lot of heads :p

and finally, its an easily modifiable car.great things you can do to get more power when you get bored unlike some cars.

Gotta agree though, if you do buy one then looks wise dont get an earlier one, facelift or fr+ or cupra r is the best option. Im fed up of how my cupra looks :(

i too have the pre-facelift model cupra ... and i do admit they aint no george clooney... more like a peter kay ......

all i have done looks wise to mine is slam it on 6 spoke TT rims and it does look pretty nice to be honest.... the best thing is its so discreet looking and does not look any way near as fast as it is ..... its the best feeling ever to see the look on boy racers faces when you dust em in your grandad wagon...... and i cant wait till i get me 300 or so bhp outa mine:cartman:

by the way i prefer the facelift LC to the LCR ... IMO ...

If u guys are spendin all ya hard earned cash on moddin pre-facelift Leons but think their ugly compared 2 the R & FR models why dun u put a bodykit on. I got my kit off ebay so now my car looks exactly like the R model but with 18" rs6 wheels. Althought just changing the wheels may make a difference, i mean look at traumapats leon thats lookin pretty smart with the audi wheels

Love the leon, its basically a nice looking golf. The same chassis and engines just cheaper :D the only thing id change about the standard 110TDi is the grey door card bottoms, that really annoys me for some reason.

I was gunning for a mk4 Golf 4Motion or similar before buying my first Leon (3 years ago) but they were just too expensive to buy on my current wage. I think I first saw a Leon Cupra/LCR at a BTCC weekend (probably the SCN infield ;) ) and it immediately appealed to me. Leon Mk1s have a unique look about them and they tend to stand out against most cars today in terms of styling.

They're also fairly cheap to live with if you take care of them and pretty quick with the only downside in some areas such as the average build quality but in the end I was after a budget 180+ bhp hatch and the LC/LCR seems to fit that quite nicely.

My Leon is pre-facelift and I too think it has more subtly pleasing than the "facelift and silicon implant" cars. I do however think it has benefitted from the previous owner replacing the standard 16" wheels with some nice 17" TSW's.

Its all down to taste I suppose. I dont think that tinted windows or lights look good on anything besides black (or perhaps dark grey) cars and even then only a subtle tint. Its a similar case with black or grey alloys. Then again I can forgive any Leon owner who breaks this rule as they have had the correct taste and sense to buy a Leon in the first place! For some reason I get frustrated when I hear people asking advice from their mates as to what car to buy and the stock answer comes "Golfs are really good". Why do it? Buy a Leon and drive it around with a big smile on your face and a wedge of cash still in your wallet!

I dont think that pre-facelift leons are ugly at all... they are quite good looking cars... with their 'chisseled' good looks.... i dont like gettin the kits from the diferent models... if you got an LCR then fine.... but if you got a prefacelift durv.... then why try n make it something its not??? like wen people get a 318 or similar and put a full M3 kit on it???.... im not a fan of the whole replica thing IMO....each to his own tho....i would never get a facelift cupra kit or LCR kit for mine... im proud to have a pre-facelift LC:D ....

Pre-facelift FTW!!!!:D

another point to add is the fact that my (and every other) LCR being an 02 plate still keeps up the looks as todays modern cars. look at the old S3,you can tell it looks outdated,as with the equivalent 02 plate golf. the LCR looks like the shape of some cars that people would buy even now....if that made any sense

why try n make it something its not??? like wen people get a 318 or similar and put a full M3 kit on it???.... im not a fan of the whole replica thing IMO

to be honest, people who cant afford an M3 would buy a 318 and kit it up to look like it for self pride. Its a cheap mans alternative than goin for the big thing.
or even when some1 gets bored of the standard car, they would look at modding to keep it fresh.
