hey guys just thought it would be interesting to find out how you came to buy your Ibiza! i love old cars and i've had 25 already. i wanted something i've never had before, i've always wanted a CRX-not the del sol-but the original and best old CRX (i always end up with manly cars ) they were all down south and it was my boyfriend (his usernames DaveyQ) that found this for me. its the newest car i've ever had (it's a p- plate) i've had VW before but i was really unsure about getting it. now that i have him, he's great (apart from the battery has mysteriously died and suddenly somethings stopping the bonnet from closing) apart from that i would defo get another one!
how did you end up with yours?

I got mine from new - my old man worked for a Seat franchise, they all got told they were being made redundant, so on his last day I went down & bought the Cupra - list price back then was £12.5K (I think), I paid £7. Paperwork mysteriously 'lost' itself aswell. What did he care, he was leaving!

the one i liked best was my 1989 mk2 it was jet black and my dad put an xr2 interior in it and xr2 bumpers etc, loved it to bits....

...anyway to get back on to subject, I was starting a new job and had to give back my company van... so of course i went looking for a fiesta.....my budget was £1000, i trailed through the bay, free ads and autotrader etc... all the fiesta were over 100k miles, when out to see a few of them and i wouldnt even let my dog sleep in them they were that bad.. so i was on my last day at my old job, ...actually I was taking the van back to the office when I saw a lil red ibiza setting out side a house with a for sale sign on it.... i drove past it, thinking should I or shouldnt I?.... then I thought , what the heck turned the van around and pulled up to the house, rang the door bell, out came a woman, turns out she had in from new.. she gave me the keys and with in the first 5 seconds of opening the door of the ibiza , i new this was for me.


So i think it was fate ( Fiat ) that brought us together

mine came as a shock my micra had been badly damaged, due to no fault of mine my neighbour hit it with his works jcb and i was gutted, he later came to me and said instead of trying to repair your car here have my car which of course was the ibiza i have now. the funny thing is his company car was totaled two days later on snake pass when he missed a corner and drove into a tree

bought my first one (mk4) new from the Stealers.. liked it, had the chance of a project mk2 1.4 really cheap , so thought it would be rude not to.. now ive had 3 mk4's and 2 mk2's.

I wanted it!

Seeing as it was my first car I was being faily sensible with insurace, my mate had a Leon Cupra that i was in love with so I went looking for a Seat... It was a toss up in the end between my 1.6 Ibiza or a 1.4 16v Polo, seeing as my gf at the time had a kid the 5 doors on the ibiza made a lot of sense back then.

Next car will more than likley be a Mk2 Cupra

i think to date ive had and dont laugh at this 5 micras, 1 mk2 golf, 2 shedford rascals, 1 nova saloon, 1 subaru impreza wagon, 1 new ford festa, 1 fiat cinquecento sporting with a 1.2 turbo fitted lol, 1 renault traffic van, 1 vw beetle 1970, and my seat ibiza oh and i forgot to mention that is in two years but my ibiza will stay now because i love it

I started working at a Seat dealer almost 11 years ago and the 1st car i saw was a MK2 Ibiza Cupra Sport, instantly decided i wanted one and a few years later i did.

Had a few other cars since but the MK2 Ibiza has always been one of my favorites so i got another one

and i was confused between Pug 206 and Ibiza Mk2 ( i love this model more than the newer versions )

and when i got the cash to buy one i couldn't found any good 206 so i said i'll go for the Ibiza and i just got it... its still stock but i have good plans for it

At the end of 2005, I was looking for my own car, had been passed my test 6 months and was using my dads Civic at the time. Had looked at a few cars before but nothing I really liked. Was looking at an N-Reg Civic, but I wasnt sure.

Was looking through Autotrader on Boxing day and saw the Ibiza for sale at my local dealers. My uncle had had 2 mk2 Ibiza gti/cupra sports (R and T reg) and he hadn't had any problems with it. So I went the next day to look at it. IIRC when I wanted to take it for a test drive the salesman had to remove all the snow off of it with a brush and had to use the kettle he had just boiled for his coffee on the locks as they were frozen with it sitting over xmas. Drove it and fell in love with it so I bought it. With a full tank of fuel and a folder of history, even the invoice when the car was bought brand new.

aww quite a range of cars there! heres my list of cars since back in the day when i was 17!
well the ones i can remember!

R5 GTT-my 1st car i loved driving to school in it! i got it sprayed pink
Pug 205 GTI-put an MI16 engine in it just to blow it a few months later (yes i drive my cars to their full potential
Pug 405 MI16-just for the engine!
Renault clio 1.8 RSI-after this car i learned from my mistakes and never went french again
Honda civic coupe 1.6 vtec-it was a boat! dropped 110 on konis and kept losing the bumper and the exhaust
Saab 900 turbo-my oldest car-D plateold faithful
Punto GT-1.4 turbo-hated leather interior and started overheating-typical italian!
Mazda MX3-auto
Nissan 200sx s13-blew the turbo lol bottom end had to get rebuilt and head skimmed
Nissan 200sx s13-yeah i should have learned from the 1st one!
Mazda 323 1.8 GTI-NOT the 323F it used to infuriate me! it was a really rare model. looked like a starlet from the front and a proton from the back-my fave car EVER! chassis had to be rebuilt and that was the end of that!
Toyota Celica-Boat!
Ford Probe-same bodyshell as the nissan but its still a ford
VW Golf GTI-1982 i loved this car also. so basic though but so reliable!
Vauxhall corsa B-my 1st small engine! my mate bought me this as i had no car, its the longest ive had a car-ive had her a year and 3 nowand still got it!
Seat Ibiza Cupra-my baby! i love him to bits and will probably keep a hold of him!

i totally agree! i love the shape of the mk2 best! the newer ones look like space ships - sorry guys!

I wanted a Golf GTi Mk2 but couldn't afford the insurance at 23, so bought the Ibiza instead. I knew I was going to buy something from the VAG group and the comparable Polo wasn't fast enough. 11.5 years later, no regrets!

i was looking for a mk2 golf GTi 16v, couldnt find one at the price and condition i wanted, and spotted the ibiza in autotrader, the same one was on clubpolo. Bonus contributed the deposit and my student loan bought the car

that was april 2007, not looked back since. It was faster than the Golf Gti, and had a much nicer interior

i'm glad i did though, my next car will more than likely be a seat, most likely a mk1 leon Cupra
