AUX input to RNS510

In the setup menu there is an option where you can turn 'loudness' on or off, makes a big difference to sound quality...

If you have the iPod factory set up and install the RNS-510 you need to change a couple of wires around in the connector at the back of the unit or it sounds like someone farting in a tin can! If you want all the technical details ask NickP he PMed me the info and it worked a treat!

OK, I got the info from NickP regarding the cable swap for the Ipod interface but it did not work for the normal AUX (in fact there was no sound after the cable swap) but it did make me look carefully at the pin confirguration on the standard CD/radio compared to the RNS510 and I found a way to get the AUX connector back to full functionality. I don't think this is the correct thread for this cable info so I'll post it on DanGB's MFD3 retro fitting guide thread. Many thanks to NickP and SpursMadDave. Ian.

Hi guys! First of all thanks for the fitting guide Dan very comprehansive! I fitted mine on saturday its an awesome piece of kit! However, I have 1 question. Only the volume control works on the steering wheel. My car is a 2008 FR550 so I thought it would have the the 2.0 canbus? If I get the converter will they all then work? anybody got a good source for them, checked on ebay and none on there!

Oh and you can update the firmware as well have done it and it works well!

hi mikey,

I also fitted the MFD3 this weekend, worked fine. I also have a FR550.

Except the seat surround won't clip in place, wrong maps supplied with the MFD and the USB connector sounds crap. Probably the pin config.

Also I have just found this lead to use the two aerial connectors.
4E0035608K VHF splitter cable

I'll phone the stealers today for a price, shouldn't be too much.

But everything else works fine, my steering wheel controls everything. not just the volume.

Did you fit the MFD3 or 2 ?

Mikey-typer / Blocky,

Did either of you get the dashboard MFD clock shift to the right problem ?

Also Blocky, the USB connector problem can probably be fixed using my pin change for the normal AUX input socket, in the case of the USB you will either have to move the Earth/L/R pins on the blue connector block at the back of the RNS510 to either the respective AUX pins or CD pins as shown on the line out sticker on the RNS510 casing. Best thing is to compare the pin connections on the original radio and move them to the same ones on the RNS510. I have posted the AUX connector fix on DanGB's MFD3 Retro Fit Guide thread on this forum.
Finally Blocky, please let us know the price for the VHF aerial splitter lead and if it works in providing good AM reception ?
Ian.

Anyone know if this will work with the Seat RNS-510?

Not cheap given the rubbish exchange rate at the moment but I was thinking of getting parking sensors and definitely interested in ones that work with the unit

although it works with the rns 510, they dont even list the leon 1p in their drop down menus so possibly not.
they also have an ebay shop (ive been watching their tv free adaptor prices), they dont have any listed at the moment but keep an eye on it. you could mail them and ask, it costs nothing.

good luck.

Its not too high on my list to be honest, just wondered if anyone had heard of them or seen them working...

Sorry, can someone just clear a few things up for me? Im a phone call away from getting the K1 Cupra, and would like this in car dvd player they offfered. I cant be bothered to look through 17 pages to find answer as theres been that nmany differnt units been talked about.

What is the one SEAT is offering, DVD player? any of these disscussed in here?

And some of the flaws people were mentioning before... are these present in the new unit they have for sale? Im a little confiused by all this!

Need to know asap as when i get the call confirming the car is mine i need to order all the extras straight away

thanks peeps

We are all talking about the same unit (RNS-510), except a few people got the VW one which was slightly cheaper a while back and had an SD slot as standard...

Most of us got them for around £800-£1000 from various sources but from the dealer I think it is £1400.

Not sure what you mean about flaws? The Post code is maybe not quite as good as a TomTom, as it takes the frst 4 digits then asks you for the road from a list... I used 3 different TomToms before i got the unit and they were fine, BUT I think the navigation and route planning is far superior on the RNS-510 especially the guidance which i found on the TomTom was sometimes vague and late but with RNS-510 is spot on and sometimes quite funny too... "stay on this road for a long time!"
The sound quality is superb, bluetooth works brilliantly...
iPod integration is poor as you just get the usual playlist 1-6 and track1 track2 etc and its expensive (£300) to upgrade that...
Yes it plays DVDs and the picture is pretty good although I havent used it much really

Take half an hour and look through this thread and Dans guide to fitting it and that will help you make your mind up!

I used tape on mine when i first fitted it but then i found you can order these - 9 pieces 3B0 867 190 (clips for the front frame) comes to about £3 from a dealer. The facia doesn't actual clip in without them it just sits there and if its not a good fit it looks pants, with the clips the facia is clipped on properly and as there are 9 of them it fits perfectly all the way round.

DAMN!!! I've just glue-gunned mine in place!

BUT it's positioned PERFECTLY and will come out with a lot of force if I took the stereo out so can go back to standard

I was going to glue mine in until someone PMed me about the clips, you would think the facia would come with them, or at least the dealer would think to offer them as an option, few more pennies for them! You can actually get all the clips and screws etc instead of going to Halfords the whole lot comes to about a £5

By the way the stereo looks fantastic and has lots of goodies good choice!
