Hi,

I need to know the correct method for re-fitting the needles for my gauges (speedo, revs, temp and petrol). Having removed them and refitted them to '0' they seem to go through some calibration procedure when the power is put back on to the speedo unit and end up in the wrong place. I have tried a search but not found any answers so far.

It's a 2001 model V5 Toledo which uses the same unit as the leon I believe.

cheers,

Ed

funny you ask that question :cartman:

Cus i just took my old boring black dial out and replaced it with a white dial the needles come off anti-clock wise and they just push back in.

i made sure the dials were set to '0' before connecting the speedo and checking the dials are at zero it took me about 8 or 9 attempts, but i got there eventually.

Hope this helps............:funk:

Cheers,

I found out that for the Temp Gauge and Fuel Gauge needles, if you put them on pointing vertically down at 6' oclock position, and then wind them anti-clockwise back to '0' they are set. Also for the Speedo and Rev Counter, I was told to set them to the 100MPH position, then wind them back anti-clockwise to '0' they should set ok. I got the speedo and Rev counter to work before trying this method so I cannot confirm. Hopefully this will help anyone with the same problem in the future though.

Was thinking of just changing the (new) face over to my (old) clocks, but seems a bit of a game tbh, might just match them to the car and then do the mileage.

It is a bit fiddly. If you can do it with Vagcom? for the new clocks to work with your current car then that's probably the best option. Not sure that's straightforward either though?
