coating reduces engine bay temps and stop energy being lost from exhaust gas in the mani to keep the force there to spin up the turbo

It was a funny bill with the way the different costs went on if I remember when you were posting about it. So are these measures supposed to stop the all the cracking?

yea its 3rd time. only 2nd time for mani probs tho
not mensioned coating yet

the dp is fine but its lower temps and lower pressure. the mani was about £1400-1500 on the bill but i was charge like 150quid for external gate pipework and £100 for hanger. they just made up the money else where by putting silly prices on them but i think it was to keep the mani around 1400.
what you gonna do when it cracks again? i had a similar scenario with a certain tuning company, mistake after mistake:whistle:hope they finally sort it for you mate.

LMAO, i know how you feel about those ever changing bills! I got quoted 800, that turned into 1600 by the end of the job????? WTF Got charged 100 quid to put a rolled lip on an ally boost pipe!

Well, i hope that you get it sorted, if not then sounds like a battle on your hands.

Flexi on WG pipework is a good idea, i just have a slip joint on DP, which worries me. I might just put a flexi in there myself. I can weld, put i dont have a tig welder. Not paying them anything ever again to work on my car.

As for v bands, DONT buy the cheap ebay things. I made that mistake and they leak cos the clamps are too big and the flanges are junk. Try ATP Turbo in USA or AET Turbo in UK (01924894171). They sell them, but not sure what sizes they do? 38mm is common WG size so good chance that they do.

I can't rate the full race manifold enough (is that the full race item or your own design Bill?). So much good press and not a single failure so far. If it were to crack they send a new one for no extra charge......wish I had one..........although I wish I had the cash some of you guys have.

Hooch, I had a little look for your car on the saturday at E38. I was going to bug you for a look at the install.

the one pictured is mine (commissioned for me for RHD)
looks similar to full-race but not full race, it has offset flange mounting to make it rhd friendly on ibiza 3 engine mount stylee, and sits higher to comp housing even on the large GT35R I based it on is fine.
I have full-race on my ibiza now, as mine took months to get made 1st off but its here now and I cant change the turbo again until I finish it, dyno etc. I wish I had mine sooner as its so much easier for fitment of downpipe and comp housing on mine that full-race.

^^ thats my Full-Race one as on the ibiza now. DP was a biatch to make. So tight but I made it 3" no squezes.

how much ? £800?
ill bear it in mind

audiman. i will try aet. bill also mensioned them but forgot to call them.

mixupz. thanks mate. not many people saw the insatll as i got there late saturday as i lost the key to the car lol and sunday....well, we all know what sunday was like.

rs fab are saying that its due to cylinder #1 running lean.....? runner did look brown rather than black on the inside but i thought it was due to the crack.

surly they cant say that its ok to crack if my cars ran a little lean?

Lean = hot, which may cause cracking. Thats why EGTs and good mapping are so important. If one cylinder is different then maybe a cylinder leakage test might be a good idea, just to make sure the valves are seating ok in the head. If thats ok, then get the injectors flow tested to make sure they are all the same. The 630cc injectors i buy and use in my cars are all flow matched to make sure there are no problems like this.

Only way to see if you are running really hot is to fit your EGT probe into the manifold or into the turbo hotside (best place for accurate readings).

At least that way you can rule out heat as the problem. For what its worth, i would ditch those small injectors, there is a good chance you are running lean at 1.9bar at 7k rpm with 440cc! whats the AFR and EGTs at those revs? I heard you were running the Zietronics kit, any data logs??

audiman. i ran 630cc from day one. mapper ditched them and charged mem for new ones (440cc) as he said they were mega over sized. had a big debate over it....what can i do?

afr high 11's egt 800 iirc

high 11's is no where near lean and 800 is safe. I 100% disagree with the tuner, seen him do the same with a big turbo S2, claiming the injectors were over sized, what differnece does it make on a custom map, unless its not custom?? You just alter the duty cycle to suit the car. Anyway..........

I would get the cylinder leakage test done and the injectors bench tested, that way you have ruled out any reason for 1 cylinder running lean. Which will disprove RS's theory for the failure or not.

Sorry if i seem to not be helping much get to the bottom of this, but I am just trying to get build a bigger picture of the way the car is running. Im NO tuner by any means, but i have a good knowledge of what works and what doesnt, have been in the car enough times during mapping sessions with Mihnea over the years with my S2 (i kept changing the cars spec!).
