Which coilovers KWV3's or Bilstein B16 PSS9??

If you only want the ride to improve go for ARB's
If you want the ride height to improve to about 15mm drop then go for FSD's shocks and Eibach springs with improved handling.
If you wanty it all get the 'full ensamble' get the coilovers (which will allow better drop and adjustablitiy, incase you want to track it;)) with the ARB's for a tight set up.
I have no experience of this set up. This will be a harder set up and the only way you could get an idea how it feels is to get a spin with someone who has this done. I know a guy who has the KWV1's on a Leon cupra, he is now getting ARB's fitted to compliment his set up. His car feels very planted on smooth roads but haven't had the full experience on all road types.

and due to the bumpyness of the bilsteins ......

The voice of experience with Bilstein PSS on an LCR I guess.......but that's not what I found in a year+ of using them on an LCR, driving it daily for 20,000+miles :shrug:

I didn't see any rust on my Bilsteins but I can't disagree with Bill that the Stainless KW's should suit british winters (salty roads) better.

Go for some good quality components (as referred to in this thread) and you will get a car that ticks all those box's. Even with Coilovers and ARB's (lowered 15-20mm)I could transport the family and luggage on a airport run etc. with no scraping and no complaints from passengers

No install guide AFAIK as for if it's easy?.......Depends on your ability but I wouldn't say it was easy?

Either way you'll need somewhere to do your alignment checks when fitted.

Hi Steve,

What are your thoughts on the Bilstein B16s? Do you think these would do me for road use, moderate track use (maybe 10-15 a year) and ultimately only track use....

I would also add the ARBs at the same time :D

Between the two I'd say the Bilstein B16's are more a track setup and the KW V3's are the better choice for everyday use.

I have heard billy's are very hard and unforgiving on the road and are better suited to the smoother surface of a track

not the potholed roads we often suffer![:@]

I think you'll find the B16's to be too hard for the road use.
The V3's have bound and rebound settings which would allow you to set up for road and track.
I need to say only one thing on this topic.
Bill Badger 5 is still running his V3's after 2 ish years.

didnt Bill run billy's before, and they corroded?:blink:

as the new V1/2/3's are coated (cant remember what with) but stop all rust and corrosion

mine were spot on:D

I am intending to go total track use within 24 months for this car so not too fussed about spinal injury from bumpy road surfaces :D I thought the B16s had fully adjustable set-ups?

Decisions decisions...

no worries mate

depending on what setup you want....but I think you are doing track days right in yours? so perhaps V3's would be best....although need some expert setting up due to rebound etc

That's correct! I have done two in mine in the last four weeks and I am loving it. Lots more planned providing I don't squish her into a tyre wall. I have high hopes for the improvements in handling and braking from sorting the suspension and ARBs. Just wish there wasn't so much choice. :D

got ARB's on mine.....prob I would say better than the coilvers mod wise, made the car instantly chuckable round bends and go kart like. still one of the best mods I think IMO
