17" Dezent N Alloys - Your views please.

Hi., I should welcome your views on the look of these 17" Dezent N Alloys with 205/40/17 tyres.

This link shows them on a white Ibiza.

My car is not lowered and is Ovni Yellow, as per my Avatar. It's currently on the original steels, but if I can scrape the funds together, I quite fancy a set of these alloys.

Does the Mk4 Ibiza with standard suspension suit 17" rims? They don't do this style in 16".

The bolts are not behind a cap on these wheels. With this in mind, do you think they will each look OK with a locking wheel bolt fitted, and if so, any recommendations on the best ones to buy, or are they all much the same?

As long as you don't set up the suspension as in the photo you'll be fine!! :

Seriously though - they should be fine, you may find the ride looks a little high, but this will be purely an aesthetic thing - it won't technically be a problem.

Ideal tyre size will be 205/40 R17 - as fitted to the new FR/Cupra

No probs, I know that not everyone's gonna like 'em. Just hoping to get a general consensus of opinion from a few members here before I splash my cash. Looking for something that's a bit different from the SEAT originals but that won't break the bank.

Hello again, just thought I'd update you all.

I went to a local supplier about a set of these wheels & tyres at the end of June. There were non in the UK so an order was placed with the UK distributor.

They arrived last week, and on Sunday I fitted them. Took some piccies this evening in between the rain showers. Will take some (hopefully) better ones when the sun shines next, and perhaps post them in the Reader's Rides section.

I really like the look of these wheels.

Thanks. Not got anything against VAG alloys, just as you say, wanted something a bit different. Worth waiting for I think, and a whole lot better than the previous plastic wheel trims.

What size tyres are they on there?

Probably used to seeing lowered suspension?
Wheel size up from standard 15" and offset on new wheels is ET38. Suspension is as per factory but I'm not going lower, at least for the foreseeable future.

Checklist I got with wheels says to adjust tyre pressures by adding 1.5lbs for every inch diameter increase over O.E wheel size. I guess that must be right but I haven't seen anything elsewhere to back this up. I now have the fronts at 36PSI and rears at 33PSI (3lbs over factory figures) and they seem OK.

Got new bolts, hub-centric rings and dotz locking bolts with them. The bolt heads are quite recessed in the wheel so the locking bolt head doesn't look out of place. The VW alloys I got for the Golf (previous car) had a cover over the bolt holes so it didn't matter what the bolt heads looked like.

I don't often need to park parallel to any kerbs, but I'm paranoid about kerbing them now

Planning on going to Longleat Safari Park later in the week, weather permitting. I'm going to bypass the monkey enclosure though as, if they're anything like the monkeys at West Midlands Safari Park, they are going to be very adept at removing bits from cars. I think they may have a stash of locking wheel bolt keys somewhere
