I am lucky to see more than 200 out of a tank. Tank volume comes in at 50.?? litres each time. Mine is all urban driving AND short distances unless I use the car for a meet or to see my friends at their houses a little while away. Even then, I do not granny around, hence why I do not see more than 200. However, "RCS2K4"'s point about economy...

Since we have direct injection on these engines, we should arguably be able to get better than normal mpg values if the driver is prepared to take it easy on the motorway and read the traffic conditions ahead.

Also for those folks who are lucky enough to live outside of any metropolis' where traffic is NOT stop / start during rush hour, you may be able to take advantage of said economy gains and drop your mpg in the name of fun when you have the roads to yourself.

i have an '08 Leon Cupra and i must say i am in agreement. my Cupra has about 2000 miles on it so far and on my route to work i get about 24.5mpg when the traffic is quiet but it drops to about 22.6mpg driving home. traffic a bit worse then. my round trip is about 20miles and that comprises a couple long straight stretches with around 20 traffic intersections each way. so this is pretty much urban.

overall (2nd odo) i am getting around 22.6mph. on long motorway jaunts where traffic is quiet and i can cruise at around 80mph, i have seen it drop to 33-35mpg. worst i have ever seen was in some horrific stop/start traffic with an emphasis on stop. we're talking mostly idling for about an hour. i averaged around 4.6 miles per hour at the time - consumption rocketed to around 15mpg or something stupid.

on weekends i am rather heavy on the accelerator and love to point 'n squirt. that's obviously a blemish on any attempts at trying to drive economically during the week. overall i think Cupra consumption isn't bad. one has to bear in mind it is a bit of a performance car and to expect it to rival a Civic 1.8 or a 1.4TSI or any of those other dreary frugal-ish commuter machines would be wrong.

I've done 22,000 miles and I'd estimate that on average I get no more than 27 MPG, or 260 to 280 miles per tank. I'm not the fastest driver there is but on the other hand, I don't hang around when the opportunity arises and I like the think that I drive the car like a Cupra should be driven. Most of my driving is on motorway/dual carriage way and I always fill up with Shell V Power.
