I got a K1 back in June. Had it Superchipped 2 days after delivery.
I use Shell V power, drive either 22 or 40 miles to site depending on which one.
Use A roads with lorries on, at 56mph for the first 17 miles, the balance is the A1.
I always brim the car & work out the MPG on a calculator after fill ups.
Started off at 32mpg average when running in. Now doing 34.7mpg AVERAGE, that includes pottering into town on Saturday.
If I hoof it, goes down to 33mpg. Not once have I had LESS that 32mpg out of it.
I USE CRUISE CONTROL & READ THE ROAD CONDITIONS.!!

So Stupa, are you saying that you have and average of 387 miles on a full tank? my maths says 32 mpg x 12.1 gallons = 387???

33 if i hoof it - 400 miles on a tank?????? Sniff, sniff!!!

I'm really smelling something here, either that or you K1 is 1.4 edition in disguise!

Yep. I filled up this morning. 48.25 litres filled it up & I did 371 miles. ie 10.61 gallons.
Trip computer said 34.9 on trip "2" setting. Trip said 90 mile range left in tank. Calculator says 34.95mpg.

As I said on my previous thread, Bluefinned & I dont leave it in 5th & do 40MPH!

Well i have done 225 miles since Sunday, the range says 105 but i know in around 20 miles i will be close to the orange light!!

Expect 265 out of this tank. All urban though.

I have an issue with the accuracy of the MPG on my A4. It can be adjusted on the Leon with VAG-COM - Intruments (17), Adpation Channel 3... Check out hte Ross TEch Wiki,

I have been watching this thread and thought it was about time i put my 2 peneth in.
Coming from a revo remapped mk1 cupra (not r) and comparing like for like the mpg isnt that bad.
i used to get about 340 miles out of a full tank on that.
My cupra i get around 300 , have to drive it more conservative but as its fairly new cant really compare yet.

came up from london to nottingham last night and purposely stayed between 60 and 70 in 6th and couldnt get any better than 34.9 (according to mfd) it wouldnt go any higher.
soon as i went into the 80 mph it started to drop.
round town its a lot worse.
my old cupra i drove how i wanted and still got good mpg compared to my new cupra.
1 thing i have noticed is mfd is very sensitive compared to the computer in my mk1 and also the first 1/4 reading on my fuel gauge in my last cupra lasted ages in my new 1 goes really quick lol.
soon as i have done enough miles i will get a remap then i can test like for like.

 Well Stupra, I must be doing something wrong?

Driving it like my auntie Mavis only returns on average 260-280 miles from a tank, and I really, really had to restrain myself to do it.

Drive it like a Cupra though, like I do whenever I get the chance, and it's not to un-common to see me back at the Shell garage within 180-200 miles (Re-mapping it to the level I have chosen has also made the MPG slightly worse - but who on earth would buy a 2.0 Turbo for an "economy" run?)

i have to agree with RCF and Rob, i filled my car up yesterday to the brim. So far i have have drove 50 miles very sedated - literally not going above 3000rpm (soooooo boring) and i have the gauge on the next notch from a full tank but above 3/4. The range says 360.

I just cant get more than 320 out of a tank and thats driving it so shite!! i dont have the luxurary of anything other than urban driving so 280 is around the average on a tank.

But you know what........... is there any point in buying a Cupra and trying to acheive maximum mpg????

these are decent performance cars and personally i like to tweak the turbo and here that recirculator working. I think if your driving style is...........tisssssh tisssssh then 34.3 mpg aint going to happen.

I have no idea how some are saying they have spirited drives and still get 380 on a tank.

I bought a Cupra so i have a hard on when im driving, Miss Daisy makes me flacid so consumption will always be **** with me.

Just to chuck my two pennys worth in...

I have a Cupra (company car and fuel payed for!!) so drive it how I want to realy, maybe a bit more rougher than if I owned it myself:blink:

I have done 17K miles in 6 months and get usually 330 miles to a tank (And thats an average over 17,000 miles.) had 350 once but never less than 300.

I think ave mpg of about 32 is good as a collegue has a freelander diesel and gets 27 mpg but another has a new S320 Merc (Brabus chipped) and gets 36 mpg FFS!!!!!!!!!!

I've driven the Curpa K1 like miss Daisy and you can get the MFD MPG to the mid 30's, however you get bored very quickly and floor it.. just to the exhaust growl heeheh and all that MPG disapears...

If your concerned about the MPG figures.. then a Deisel FR is the correct choice.......

just a quick question...how much can u go by the trip computer when it tells you that you have 300 miles left....or 30 miles left?

is it pretty accurate, or too risky to let the number go below 30 or something like that? ive never had a trip comuter in any of my cars so when i pick my FR up it will all be new to me and i dont want to run out of petrol because ive been watching what the computer says.

you wont run out of fuel.
if you pootle round for 150 miles the mfd may say you have 200 miles to go, but then start thrashing it the remaining milage will then drop faster and you may only get another 100 miles out of it.
however you drive it, it wont go from 100 miles remaining to empty without first going thru 95, 90, 85, 80.... etc.
my fuel low light came on today with 30 miles remaining, about 1 notch left on the gauge, and i filled up at 15 miles remaining which was about half a notch.
its a good guide, but it is only a guide.
