A couple of us (Ollie, Sean and myself) met up the night before inters and took a few snaps. Most of them were slightly out of focus - these are the best of them.

I used Meg's stage 1 paint cleaner, 2x coats of Autoglym SRP, 1x coat of Autoglym EGP and a coat of Poorboy's Nattys Blue paste wax. I'm fairly happy with the result :D

How mint is that kiwi car!! Looks absolutely immaculate. Doesnt look like it has a faded panel or anything.

Whats the Autoglym EGP?? I use alot of the Autogylm stuff (have the valet case) and Im impressed with it, I just havent saw or used the EGP stuff.

Brummy,

hope it's of some use mate.

Cruiser87,

I'll let sean comment on fading paint ;) It's greg's old car, and yes, it's very tidy.

EGP is 'extra gloss protection'. It's basically a sealant that's applied between the polish and wax stages. It protects the paint for a bit longer than just wax on it's own.

I think I will try and get some of the EGP. My local Halfords didnt have any the last time I was in or I would have definetely picked it up.

Well I can't really say if it's worth it or not as it's only been on a week or so. But the SRP & EGP combination seems to be fairly well regarded, considering it's fairly inexpensive and readily available, from what I've read on detailingworld.

Sneaky preview of my half cleaned engine bay - hopefully to be finished for E38 this year.

Yet to be done: clean all the pipes properly, replace a metal water pipe and paint the engine block black.

Yeah I might do, that'll probably be quite low on the list of 'things to do' - going to drop the oil and coolant so that I can do the pipework and block first. Still got the pass side chassis leg to do too.

There's no F in Quality..
Coming along nicely mate :)

You may also want to look for a proper 8v air-box ;) the one on it is a 16v one I think.... hence the 'inlet' with the duck tape and cable-tie over the end !!! :D (couldn't be bothered to find a replacement when I had it, so just used the duck tape as a 'temporary' solution..... ;) )

The 'inlet' is where the Idle Stabalisation Valve connects to the airbox on the 16v! The 8v doesn't have an ISV, it works using the throttle body ;)

Andy,

Is it really? Never knew that. I've seen other 8v engine bays that look the same except there's another smaller pipe going into the bit that's gaffa-taped off. Are we sure the 8v and 16v boxes are different?

PS, changed it from silver tape to black  less noticeable that way!

Think i have your pics from the ad saved somewhere, might pull out the one of the engine bay, i didn't take any 'before' pics.

Thanks Martin, I'm quite pleased with the rocker cover. I wasn't sure whether it would look right when it was off the car.

Well, I think their different.....

Just had a quick look on Vagcat, it says:

air cleaner
/ ABF
(1) 6K0129607H

air cleaner
/ AGG
(1) 6K0129607R

So it seems they are different.
