I get about 25mpg average, though did recently match Dan's 42mpg on a long run to London...I had to drive like a nun though ! ;)

With fuel prices as they are, maybe we all need a day playing "sister" !

I did get to Silverstone on Weds for the F1 testing on Free V-Power (am in the V power club and got £26 worth of free vouchers). That enables one to plant the right pedal ! :D

I manage to get 33 MPG on the way to work each day, a 20 mile trip. I did try once to drive like a total granny an managed 40 MPG, but it wasn't fun so I stopped driving like it.

overall, I have now done 3500 miles in the new Cupra and have been getting average over 600 miles 27.9 MPG thrashing it and driving normally too and from work.

My old Ibiza Cupra would only do 30 MPG with 220 BHP K03s (all round driving) and it didn't weigh 2 tons like the new Cupra does.

I think if you don't want to see below 30 MPG out of the new Cupra, don't buy 1 :)

But I agree with Martin, I am getting at least 5 smiles per gallon

Does anyone have figures for a chipped Cupra

Mines done 10,000 miles and around town i'm getting 25mpg on the mway with cruise set 75 / 80 getting 32mpg. It's not about mpg it's about the drive and the smile you get from driving this car.

c'mon dan, who you tring to kid? 45mpg :cartman:.

i live on top of a mountain (well almost ), and can almost freewheel the 3 miles to the a1, and mine only gets up to around 36-37mpg by the time i get there.

you were freewheeling down a hill right, or that is the current mpg not the journey average?

and by the way, what does a stage 3 tfsi push bhp wise?

no mate :)
That was after a 45min slow traffic motorway journey, with some A roads before that. As you can see, its got the average symbol. The warm engine did help im sure :)

The advantage of big turbo is that under normal driving its off boost, so its like driving an economical 2 litre car.

its currently running around 380hp chris. I have a thread about it in the readers rides section.

Well im still having a couple of minor issues, but it seems down to the intake runner flap motor fault which is very common with these engines. Warranty jobby.

Well they should as its a proven issue with these engines, there is a technical service bulliten about it. Plus its unrealted to the stage 3 mods.

Dan !!!

You are really naughty ! (Lol !)

You are cheating, as you do not have a new Cupra !

I Just realised that you are using a TFSi Sport with Mods.

Well, two can play your game, - My figures were with the Cupra, so I will now try to beat your benchmark with my TFSi Sport.

Shame on you ! (Snigger !)

So maybe I am the king of the Cupra "Nun" drivers now ?

08 Cupra:
Drove along the A628 to Sheffield the other day.
Managed 43.5mpg over a 30 mile journey.
Although I was stuck behind a lorry driving at 20-40mph for 90% of the journey!

Mine is getting better now that it's run in (over 10K miles).

I'm seeing about 3 mpg more on the same run than I was when I got the car. Getting aorund 33 mpg now on an slightly 'enthuiastic' motorway journey.

whats all that rubbish about town mpg and out of town mpg why cant they just say what the normal day to day running would give you, at the end of the day its a performance car so your obviously going to be using it towards the higher rev bands.

Different people live in different area's.
Some people drive from one side of a city to another to work.
Some people have to drive on A roads and motorsways to work.
So the normal day to day running is very different for every person.

The idea of MPG is the best the car can do, not the worst!
As for giving the MPG while thrashing it, SEAT arn't going to advertise it as 15mpg as no-one would buy it, especially with todays petrol prices!

This thread is actually starting to make me laugh a little. Does anyone not use simple maths to work out the average consumption??

Personally i never pay any attention to the MFD as i think its a pile of poo. I fill mine up and see a big 380 mile range but i never get anymore than about 300miles. All my driving is urban.

Anyway the MFD says an average of 27.7mpg and the 1st one always says 28 - 32 once into the journey. But i at 280 miles or there about i always have to fill up, done 2500miles so far......

Simple maths, 1 gallon is 4.55 litres, 55 litre tank with is around 12.1 gallons -- 280 divided by 12.1 = 23.140495

Round the puppy off and you have an average of 22 mpg.

MFD's are crap.

Average 22 MPG!!!
