Sounds great Jamie, glad its been worth your effort mate. The MBC will give you 1.4 bar, you'll just need to carry a new pair of pants to handle the aftermath.:)
Bill I'm very surprised it doesn't hold more than 1.2 at the limiter. A k04-02 tubby will hold 1.1 with ease..... how much bigger is the gt2x in physical size.

not a case of not holding, as not ragging it to death so not asking for it.
A k04 wont hold more than 1.2bar at the limiter on any i have seen or logged.

dont kid yourself the gt2x is in the league to be called a bt cos its still small.
it provides k04 performance but with more lag from what I see.

Mine drops to 1.2 when @ redline , both to save the IHI and the internals so dont worry bout it too much ( although i did @ 1st )

would you install it over a k04 if fitment issues were the same.

personally no.
more power/torque from k04 from my experience.

if mrsB lupo ever needs something to replace it k03s, it wont be a gt2x, but more likely k04. punchier delivery of torque for a road car.

the ait's on the gt2x on forge fmic were mid to high 40's from 1.4bar tapering to 1.2bar up top. thats working hard enough to me.

Clutch - I was told by TTS Roadsport that the "rattle" of the clutch and lightened flywheel was normal, but even Will said its not normal and definitely has a faulty clutch release bearing, so have to get them to look at this at some point, as its just not right
hate to say it mate but any lightened flywheel rattles or gearbox chatter as they call it.the dualmass flywheel acts as a dampener to reduce rattle and vibration, you've just removed all that;)some are worse than others,my helix flywheel rattles like a bitch!the group thrash i attended on thursday included a few cars with either spec or helix flywheels and they all rattled,as said some were worse than others.also the uprated springs in the clutch drive plate give off a rattley sound as well almost like a worn out release bearing.worth getting it checked out though for piece of mind as some have had problems with the spec stuff.

glad your pleased with it jamie. and more to come.... big difference between 1.1 and 1.4.. be interested in seeing a graph when you have one.

good to hear it holds its power well to the line.

Jamie - your car is making 271bhp at only 1.1 BAR of boost, that right?

Having had a K04 before all I can say is the GT2X feels better to me personally, feels more powerful, little dropoff at the top end, fully spooled by 3500rpm which was no worse than my K04, at 1.3 BAR my GT2X made 287bhp and 309lbft. IAT's out on the road never went above 30. Yes it's still a small turbo, was only slightly bigger than my K04, but it's a torquey little begger that holds power very well.

The TD MD445 hybrid K04 does still interest me but would it be a backward step or be no better than a re-worked GT2X? If the GT28R Elim was available I'd have it now as it is better than the GT2X being larger, water-cooled, ball-bearing and rated to 310bhp - but nobody in the world has one!

Thermostat?

Where did you get it from?

I got it from tsr-performance

there was one for sale on Ebay a little while ago, but I think Rob bought that one, and as there were none left for sale on ebay, I called TSR up and asked if they could do the same kit and make one up for me which they did

very quick service indeed and a great piece of kit

now I just have to work out where it will sit and the brackets as well (waiting for Rob to do his so I can have an idea of how I will mount mine)

Most obvious place is directly in the middle under the crashbar - tried in there today and it fits a treat, won't need brackets either, just bolt straight into the crashbar.

do you have a FMIC rob?

wont the oil cooler sit right on front of this then.....possibly adding a restriction to the FMIC?
