ah ha (Alan Partridge style) I am back......

hi all, well its been strange, emotional and dam right awesome really....

I arrived at P-torque and went for a test drive with Will. Now first impressions the car felt quicker but not rapid.....

why did it not feel rapid? well because I have had a stg2/3 Ibiza cupra and you just got that "thud" in your seat, but this sort of map was very much and on/off type power

the "thud" was not there at first, but boy, it is VERY deceiving...

the way Will has mapped the car is so progressive and smooth its surreal. It's like he said, as if it has come out of the factory that way

driving and exploring the feeling of the power took a little while, but after driving it I really started to notice the power.

the drive is still missing a slight bit of power due to the boost issue, but that will be sorted with the MBC

so impressions:

Will has done an excellent job, he really has. The kit was not the best of kits to fit but what he has done is superb and it all looks relatively stock as well which is good.

the turbo is ALOT more powerful than a k03s. I managed to take her for a run on a private test track and it pushed 140mph and was still going strong as I found a remapped k03s can struggle a little

power kicks in from around 3300-3500rpm, and the induction sound is relatively quiet, but you get this spool or almost growling type sound before it comes on boost and then she flies

it is of course more laggier than a k03s, I knew and expected that, but the power just stays on all the way up the rev range

I booted it from a set of traffic lights yesterday, and the engine mounts and dogbone mount really have helped. Launch was superb and 1-2-3 gears she absolutely flew and she did not wheel spin but planted the power very nicely

I think this is where Will has excelled at, as where the map is so smooth it gets the power down perfectly for a perfect launch

had a play with a MK5 R32 who was quite suprised and in a straight line I left him, and still there is more boost to come as it is only boosting to 1.1bar and should be boosting to 1.4 bar with a shed load of torque to go as well (should be running around 300lbft but only running 250lbft at the moment)

so am I pleased....was it all worth it - Hell yes!:D

now for a few issues:

Turbo - Will pointed out that on the end of the actuator there is a pin, and there should be a clip over this, but there isn't so I need to call CR Turbo's about this

Pipes - the pipes that go onto the turbo that came with the kit are not that great and Will said they could be prone to flattening so going to purchase some uprated silicone hoses to stop this

Air Filter - it now has a large cone filter on the car which was to fit the larger ATP TIP, but currently there is no cold air feed to it, so this needs sorting out pretty soon, as its just sucking in relatively hot air

Clutch - I was told by TTS Roadsport that the "rattle" of the clutch and lightened flywheel was normal, but even Will said its not normal and definitely has a faulty clutch release bearing, so have to get them to look at this at some point, as its just not right

MBC - how does the Forge MBC work? is it plumbed in between the N75 valve and keeps the actuator open? anyone got any pics of how this works?

Glad you've nearly got everything sorted mate. Thumbs up to Will at p-torque from me to, love my stage 1.

Just wait until you get 1.4 BAR Jamie, much more of a kick when that comes it! The MBC is instead of the N75, not as well as.

CR Turbos haven't even been back in touch with me at all yet, they picked up the turbo on Wednesday - not happy.

check that Will has allowed a sufficient deviation from requested to delivered boost, otherwise the MBC might stick you in limp mode

well its only Saturday isn't it Rob? so only been a few days...:(

you see when I contacted Forge, they advised against this - again another mixed opinion from a tuner....

so the Forge UNOS is the one to go for and replaces the N75 Rob?

I didn't ask, but I will check, thanks Mork

so what is a GT2X rated to boost wise?
sluggish things that cant spike such is their response.

I mapped a GT2X today with CC3 (ibiza)
1.5bar peak, 1.2 to limiter.
smooth, but relatively lazy delivery, but kep its pull to the limiter strong.

no idea boost wise Bill:blink:

how do you mean "relatively lazy delivery"?

it does seem to hold the power very well and keeps on going

gauge/logs on the ibiza today was 20-22psi dropping to 15-16psi sustained to top end.

lazy delivery as in urge does'nt come on until into the 3000-3500 region, which is what VF34 power delivery starts happening from, but 50bhp more at the same threshold. Thats what I mean as lazy... its slow to spool for the power its going to put out. Once going its transient is not bad and keeps going where k0x small units fall away over 5krpm.

got ya, understand now

and in reference to my other question with the Forge MBC, thats what I need right?

Sounds great Jamie, glad its been worth your effort mate. The MBC will give you 1.4 bar, you'll just need to carry a new pair of pants to handle the aftermath.:)
Bill I'm very surprised it doesn't hold more than 1.2 at the limiter. A k04-02 tubby will hold 1.1 with ease..... how much bigger is the gt2x in physical size.

Jamie, if it has only two outlets.... Boost reference connects to the input of the valve and the outlet connects directly to yor turbo actuator.

thats what I thought, thanks for confirming mate
