Coding for older (5P0) part seems to be different to newer (1Z0) part.

Older coding:
Coding - Function 07
HU = Head Unit (i.e. RNS-D/E)
MFL = Multifunction Steeringwheel

?xxxx: type (car)
0 - with CAN-bus (A2, A3, TT)
1 - D3/C6 High-System
2 - C6 Standard-System

x?xxx: type (Steeringwheel)
0 - non multifunction steering wheel
1 - standard steering wheel
2 - modular steering wheel

WORRIED about these ones

xx?xx: installed components
1 - none warning uing this will disconnect the k-line
2 - MFL warning uing this will disconnect the k-line
3 - HU warning uing this will disconnect the k-line
4 - MFL and HU warning uing this will disconnect the k-line
5 - K-line
6 - MFK and K-line
7 - HU and K-line
8 - MFL, HU and K-line

xxx?x: language for voice control
0 - voice control off
1 - German
2 - English (UK)
3 - French
4 - Italian
5 - Spanish
7 - English (US)
8 - Voice control from external device (i.e. RNS-E)

xxxx?: Language for DIS
0 - no DIS display
1 - German
2 - English (UK)
3 - French
4 - Italian
5 - Spanish
7 - English (US)

Thinking this through I just don't get it.

Vagcom can "talk" to the unit to change adaptions and coding so surely that means CAN is working?

Also when I push the button on the steering wheel the nice german lady speaks to me. Again, surely this is via CAN.

So what's the problem?

maybe just an error came when you installed when the kit. Have you cleared the fault code t see if it comes back? Shouldnt be an issue.

Yepp, comes back repeatedly.

I'm begining to think 1Z0 part and the SEAT TFSI Sport ECU are not compatible. I've tried to mess with the coding and I can set

422
433
220

I can't set

522
622
722

No setting makes any difference to the fact the lady insists on speaking German to me.

'Problem' solved although I guess I'd best let (Vr)Stu know.

I swiped the 'old' 5P0 part from my (wife's) brand new MY08 Altea XL and swapped it with the 1Z0 part I've been trying to marry into my MY06 Leon.

The 1Z0 part sprang into life and worked perfectly in the Altea XL and the older 5P0 part worked spot on (although STILL calls itself Skoda_UHV) in my Leon.

Presumably this 1Z0 part is just too new for a MY06 Leon.

Right finally got to borrow a vagcom again.

the 5P0 part can be switched between "Skoda_UHV" and "SEAT_UHV" using coding 522 and 422.

The 1K0 part is far more irratating!

DanGB, I would like to have a large dot-matrix display instead of a small one. I now that I need a new instrument cluster but what else is needed? What I have to do after installing it?

The only opart needed is the new instrument cluster.

It will then need to be coded in, as it contains the immobiliser to the car, so the radio code will also need to be entered.
I got the dealer to do this for half an hour labour.

Will it have full functionality of big display from BT option (except BT related of course)?

Yes!

Newer cars have a few more menu options, mines a 2006 sport, so only has the minumum, but anything newer should have most.
