sorry for the late reply lads been on hols (skiing). Im from Skewen Stan by the way. So do you reckon it would be better to replace the whole console or plastic weld the ashtray bit (well by the armrest like i was planning originally). Isnt the front ashtry in a different place on the golf and the leon ashtray wouldnt open with the golf console fitted??

Should have posted earlier..anywho the whole center console for both leon and Golf is indeed different at the top below the Ashtray so are not simply interchangeable, pisser as would have been a worthwhile upgrade..hey ho nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that pish!

Yes its different, but the only "real" difference is the ashtray. Its in the console on the Golf, but it wouldnt stop the Leon one opening as far as I can see.

I reckon it may work, I'll have to measure the sides of the centre console near the ashtray.

Yea looking at that pic mate it seems like it both ashtrays would open ok and would give another storage space (which are lacking in the leon TBH). Let me know when you have chance to have a look and if it will open its find a bumped golf time for me and cup holders in the back lol :) (hopefully it will have an armrest in it and can have a genuine one then. Cheers for the pics so far stan your still a leg end ;) lol

some may say lala land....
i don't let people drink unless out of a bottle so they can put the lid back on.
Cup holders today and airline dinner trays tomorrow, and no way that is happening in any car of mine, sad state of affairs.

I agree it might work but have you thought about your traction control and fuel cap buttons down by the hand break?? Beleive there is no space on the golf for both as the ESP is under the air vents

yea was thinking about it but not a big issue to cut holes for them, pluss the buttons have a lttle lip on them so will look standard, just want to know now if the ashtray will open ok and if it does then il be getting one (prob end up in my extension with a load of other parts waiting to go on lol). No think i will put this mod straight in and can fit the armrest at the same time :)

top man johnboy, my mate has just bought a golf and think it will be close between the two ashtrays but looks like it can be pulled off. im going to measure the gaps later on tonight. Didnt realise the difference in appearence of them though. Where the TCS and fuel is on the leon is much shallower then the golf one but cant make a difference fitting wise as the floor plan is the same. Really want drinks holders in the rear of mine and its a nice subtle mod that will get picked up by the few that mod.
Just wondering what year is the golf that you have had yours off mate?

The rule is no drinks in the back to prevent any spillages! If a mate wants a can of coke in the back seat he can take the bus :)
