After the heavy rainfall at the beginning of the week i went out to my car and it was all misted up AGAIN!!!!! Funny me thinks, as i had the door seals done early this year, so should not have happened.
So i started the car and put the fan on, this made it worse by a huge amount, far far worse than normal, it was like the fan was bringing the water in.
I initially inspected the pollen filter and it was bone dry, strange i thought, but just as i was about to put it back together i noticed water in the bottom of the heater / fan housing, that was strange!!! So i got the water out using a face flannel, not mine may i add. And it took 4 or 5 attempts to get the water out.
Upon further inspection i noticed that the pollen filter housing is mounted on a bulkhead under the bonnet, and this is mounted over a sponge!!! a feckin sponge!!!! so after pouring more water over the windscreen i watched in amazement as the water drained down and through the sponge and into the heater!!! NOT GOOD AT ALL!!!!!
So I now have to get the thing out and modify the bottom of it and replace the sponge with generous amounts of silicone so to stop this.
As for the rest of the water ingress, i.e. the misty windows, i just dont know!
I'm at my wits end with this car now and want to get rid of it, its been problem after problem!
Rant mode off now
Hope this helps others with a water problem around the heater
